Blankenship Sites, age 72, of Blairsville, passed away Thursday, July
17, 2003
at the

Sites was born February 20, 1931, in Whitley Co., KY, a daughter of
Ellie Oscar
and Bertha Lou Carr Blankenship. She
lived in this area since 1986, moving here from

Tyra and Tom Brown of Roswell, GA, Jo Jeana and Ed Smith of Woodstock,

Nancy and Kirk Cunningham of Springdale, AK; sister and brother-in-law,

services were held Sunday, July 20, 2003 at 4 p.m. at the Chapel of

Mrs. Franklin was born on June 10,
1907 in Madison Co., TN, the daughter of the late James David Gunter

late Mollie Ballew gaunter. She was
preceded in death by two sons, Edders Franklin in 1978, James David
Franklin in
1995 and by her husband, Nippie Franklin in 1975. Mrs.
Franklin was of the Baptist Faith.

Mrs. Cora Bowling Denney, age 81 of
Blairsville, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2003 in Union General
Hospital,
following an extended illness.
Mrs. Denney was born on Saturday,
September 8, 1921. Mrs. Denney was a
lifelong resident of Blairsville and was a member of First Baptist
Church of
Blairsville. Mrs. Denney was preceded in
death by her parents, Thomas Oscar and Ida Hullander Bowling.
Surviving are her spouse, B. Frank
Denney; two sons, Frank Denney, Jr. of Marietta, GA and Ronald Lee
Denney, of
Kennesaw, GA; a daughter, Shelby Deitz of Grovetown, GA; a brother,

Mrs. Doris E. “Betty” Murray, age
73, of Sebring, Fl and Hiawassee, GA passed away Wednesday, July 16,
2003 in
lake Placid, Fl.
Mrs. Murray was born October 2, 1929,
in Dale County, Alabama. A daughter of
the late James B. and Lera (Hall) Windham.
She moved to Hiawassee in 1982 from Temple Terrace, Fl. Mrs. Murray was a member of McConnell
Memorial Baptist Church, a member of the Upper Hightower Fire
Department
Auxiliary. She had worked at Towns
County Hospital for several years. Mrs.
Murray was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Fox in 1989.

Mr. Raymond William Calkins, age 89,
of Fairview Church Road, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, July 18,
2003 at
his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Calkins was born on November 28,
1913 in N. Tonawanda, NY., the son of the late John and Nettie Smith
Calkins. Mr. Calkins had retired from
Bell Aircraft in Niagra Falls, NY., with over forty one years of
service. He was a member of the Men’s
Christian
Fellowship, Past Chairman of the Board of Deacons, a member of the Elks
Club in
Bellview, Fl., and the Odd Fellows in Lockpoint, NY.
Mr. Calkins was a member of the First
Christian Church of Ocala, Fl.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Norma Smith Calkins in 1994 and by two grandsons, David Blue in
1978 and
Steven Calkins in 2001.
Survivors are one daughter, Joanne
Stevens of Young Harris; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and
Barbara
Calkins of N. Tonawanda, NY; six grandchildren, Sandy Patterson, Cheryl
Fisher,
David Kennedy, Candy Kennedy, Carol Calkins and Rick Blue; eleven
great-grandchildren. Many other

Guyton, age 66, of Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of Bonita Springs,

1937, in Bladen, North Carolina, a son of the late Bennie Guyton and
Sadie Tait
Guyton. Mr. Guyton had been a business
owner of a underground utilities company.
