Mr.
Wayman Bradley, age 78, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, July 27,
2001, at his home following an extended illness.
Mr.
Bradley was born in Union County, Georgia, on Sunday, April 29, 1923, a son of
the late Jess Bradley. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Army, and served during World War II, in the Asiatic Theatre. A lifelong resident and retired farmer, he
was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Mr. Bradley had also worked at Potter and Rayfield, Inc. for 30 years.
Survivors
include his loving wife, Louise Bradley, of the home; son and daughter-in-law,
Dennis and Beverly Bradley of Blairsville; son, Kenneth Bradley of Blairsville;
daughter, Sandy Bradley of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law Milton and Kay
Bradley of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law Janet and Tony Harkins of
Blairsville; ten grandchildren, Melissa Boyd, Stephanie Davis, Andrew Bradley,
Bobby Bradley, Cydney Bradley, Matthew Bradley, Mandy Hunter, Meg Bradley,
Tayler and Tucker Harkins; sister, Nannie Ree Mashburn of Blairsville; and
brother, Jake Bradley, of Holly Springs, Georgia; nine great grandchildren,
several nieces and nephews, and many friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, July 30, 2001 at 2 pm from Ebenezer Baptist Church
with Rev. R.L. martin, Rev. Loys Waters, and Rev. Tom Ford officiating. Mr. Bradley’s son Dennis eulogized his
father. Special music was presented by
The Faith Singers. Interment was in the
church cemetery, with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Lee Knight, Ed Durbin, Marty Hood, Wayne
Henderson, Arthur Jordan, Sammy Henson, and James Bridges. Military honors were presented by North
Georgia Honor Guard.

Mr.
Robert Jerry Butram, age 78, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, July
27, 2001, in Chatuge Nursing Home in Hiawassee, Georgia, following an extended
illness.
Mr.
Butram was born in Fulton County, Kentucky, on Monday, January 8, 1923, a son
of the late Oscar Daniel Butram and Allie Jane Lee Butram. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and served
in India and the Asiatic-pacific Theatre.
Mr. Butram lived in Detroit, Michigan for 10 years and moved to
Blairsville in 1966. He was a member of
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and was a musician who loved to play the piano.
Survivors
include his loving wife, Doris Payne Butram, of the home; step-children, Carol
Payne Gray; Brenda Payne Lynch; Danny Payne; John Payne; Michele Payne Webb
Kirby, all of Blairsville; brothers, Billy Allen Butram of Mayfield, Kentucky
and Richard Daniel Butram of Clinton, Illinois; niece, Shirley Williams of
Mayfield, Kentucky; 23 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, July 29, 2001 at 2 pm from the chapel of Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Hoyt Brown, Rev. Earl Pickelsimer, and
Rev. Danny Gray officiating. Special
music was presented by Michele Webb Kirby, Dorothy Pickelsimer, and Kenneth and
Elaine Young. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers: Danny Gray,
Robert Gray, Eric Gray, Jacob Webb, Adam Payne, Jonathan Payne, Roy E. Lynch,
and Tony Lynch. Interment was in
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Jesse
Chad Smith, age 35, of Bald Creek Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Friday, July
27, 2001, following a sudden illness.
Mr. Smith was born on June 7, 1966 in Tampa, FL, the son of Joe Yassney
and Harriet Smith Yassney. He was a
lifelong resident of Union County. He
was preceded in death by this wife Sally Ann Smith in 2000. Mr. Smith was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving
Mr. Smith are his father, Joe Yassney of Russellville, KY; mother, Harriett
Smith of Blairsville; step father, Clinton Brown of Blairsville; three brothers
and two sisters-in-law: Darrick and
Chasitity Brown of Blairsville, Jason and Lisa Brown of Blue Ridge, and Brandon
Brown of Blue Ridge; several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Mandy, July30, 2001 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. Willis Garrett and Rev. Bill Honaker officiating. Special music was presented by Dawn
Davis. The following gentlemen serves as
pallbearers: Brandon Brown, Jason Brown,
Charles Bennett, Benny Brown, Benjamin Brown and Tony Brown. Interment followed in the House of Prayer
Church cemetery.

Miss
Minnie Vandiver, age 89, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, July 30,
in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Miss
Vandiver was born in White County, Georgia, on Saturday, April 13, 1912, a
daughter of the late Joseph Lane Vandiver and Anna Abernathy Vandiver. She was a lifelong resident of this area and
was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors
include a sister, Miss Dollie Vandiver, of Blairsville; also a number of nieces
and nephews survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at 2:00 PM, from the chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Harley Hunter and Rev. Jerry
Young officiating. Special music was presented
by Old Liberty Baptist Church Choir. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
A. J. Wimpey, John England, Duane Dyer, Aubrey Dyer, Troy Whitt, and F.
C. Collins. Interment was in Old Liberty
Baptist Church Cemetery.
