MR. SYLVAN PICKELSIMER

 

Mr. Sylvan Pickelsimer, age, 61, of Suches, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at his home.

Mr. Pickelsimer was born in union County Georgia on Thursday, April 27, 1939, a son of the late Hubert Pickelsimer and Mary Grizzle Pickelsimer.  He was a lifelong resident of this area and was employed by the United States Forestry Service in the fish hatchery as a manger.  Mr. Pickelsimer was a member and deacon at Corinth Baptist Church.  He was a gospel music singer for many years and was currently singing with The Glory Bound Quartet.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Ann Parker Pickelsimer, of Suches; son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Tina Pickelsimer; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Tammy Pickelsimer; and daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Tim David, all of Suches; two sisters, Eloise Snider of Dahlonega, and Carolyn Coker of Suches; four grandchildren, Andy Pickelsimer, Kelly Davis, Amanda and Jordan Pickelsimer; three nieces and many other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, 2000 at 2 pm from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hood, Rev. Ray Potts, and Rev. Vernon Davenport officiating.  Specially selected music was presented by Ken and Elaine Young.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Mike Pardue, Walt Grizzle, Bill Coker, Mitchell Gunter, Robert Bridges, Doyle Carder, Ervin Plott, and Randall Parker.  Interment was in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

MR. BUREN AYERS EDISON

 

Mr. Buren Ayers Edison, age 71, of Blairsville, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2000 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Edison was born on May 30, 1929 in Smyrna, GA, the son of the late Thelon Edison and the late Floy Ayers Edison.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce.  Mr. Edison was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors are his loving wife of thirty-six years, Jessie Faye Edison, of Blairsville; one daughter, Patricia Jayne Edison Barnes, of Longview, TX; one son, Michael Ayers Edison, of Cummings; three grandchildren, Jason Eric Barnes, Amanda Nicole Barnes, and Blythe Edison, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, August 10, 2000 at 11 a.m. from Union Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. B.L. Anderson officiating.

MRS. ELIZABETH N. LARGEN

 

Mrs. Elizabeth N. Largen, age 92, of West Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Blairsville, who passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2000 in West Palm following an extended illness.  She was a member of the Coral Gables Country Club and a member of the Coral Gables Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Largen.

Surviving Mrs. Largen are two daughters, Lorraine L. Spivey, of West Palm Beach, FL and Mary Jane Jordan, of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Charles T. Nesbitt, of Birmingham, AL., seven grandchildren, Jenny S. Rachlin Nancy J. Keesee, Susan Jordan, Lee Spivey, Kathryn J. Gold, Lynn S. Jenkins, Glenn Spivey; ten great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2000 from Union Memory Gardens.

MR. HOBART D. TUCKER

 

Mr. Hobart D. Tucker, age 67, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2000 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mr. Tucker was a son of the late Perry Tucker and Mattie Phelps Tucker.  He was a native of Letcher County, Kentucky, and had lived in Blairsville for the past four years, coming here from Newark, Ohio.  Mr. Tucker was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ross Carter Tucker, of the home; son; Phillip David Tucker, of Newark, Ohio; Larry Dean Tucker of Canton, Ohio; and Kevin Paul Tucker, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; step-son Daniel Hutchinson Carter, of Greensboro, Georgia; step-daughters, Carven Carter Engles, of Cary, NC; Susan Carter Giles, of Seattle, Washington; and Elizabeth Carter Rathore, of Smyrna, Georgia; brother, Virgil Tucker, of Jenkins, Kentucky; sisters, Beulah Fouts, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, Allene Mullins, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Beatrice Perry, of Blairsville; seven grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 14, 2000 at 11 a.m. from First Baptist Church of Blairsville, with Rev. Danny Parris officiating.  Special music was presented by Mr. Terry Hooper, Mrs. Jackie Hill, and Blairsville First Baptist Church Choir.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Horace Parker, Chuck Grissett, Russ Crawford, Chris Miller, Guy Burger, and Hatch Hatchell.  Serving as honorary escort tot eh family were members of Joy Sunday School Class.  Entombment was in Newark Memorial Gardens in Newark, Ohio.  In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Blairsville Building Fund, or to Trackrock Industries.

MS. DAWNA MARIE OUELLETTE

 

Ms. Dawna Marie Ouellette, age 38, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Saturday, August 5, 2000 at her home.

Ms. Ouellette was born in Cumberland County, Maine, on Friday, April 20, 1962, a daughter of William Coy and Rosalyn Flood Coy.  She was employed at Arbor Acres and attended House of Prayer Church in Blairsville.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Paul Ouellette, of Michigan, and Denin Allen James Coy, of Blairsville; her mother, Rosalyn Marie King, of Blairsville; father, William John Coy; three sisters: Susan Rae Trimnal, of St. Mathew, SC; Sandi Jo Emery of Maine, and Jamie Lynn King, of Blairsville; two brothers, Steven John Coy of Winslow, Arizona, and Barry Joe King, of Blairsville; grandfather, Carroll H. Flood, of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Bill Honaker officiating.  Special music was presented by Mrs. Mildred LeCroy.
