MR. john doyle morgan

 

Mr. John Doyle Morgan, age 74 of Gum Log Road, Blairsville, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2003 in the Union County Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Mr. Morgan was born on February 26, 1929 in Union County, the son of the late John Waymond Morgan and the late Effie Marie Dyer Morgan.He was a native and life long resident of Union County.Mr. Morgan was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean War.He was a member of the Mill Wright.He was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Hubert, Herbert, George and Eugene Morgan.Mr. Morgan was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Morgan are his loving wife, Lorena Woody Morgan of Blairsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Keith Dyer of Blairsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Waymond and Shawna Morgan of Blairsville; two grandchildren, Caitlyn Carter and Alexis Terry, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at 2 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Trotter officiating.Special music was presented by the Kelley Trio.The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Hal Crisp, Harry Martin, J.E. Corn, Roy Phillips, Keith Dyer and Calvin Dyer.Interment followed in the Owltown Church of God cemetery with the North GA Honor Guard conducting military honors.

charles moore harrison

 

Charles Moore Harrison of Blairsville, GA passed away at the age of 85.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Pam Harrison, and 2 granddaughters, Rosemary and Virginia Harrison.He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Bell Bulluck Harrison.Mr. Harrison was an Elder at Mountain Presbyterian Church.He graduated pre-med from University of Tennessee and received his degree in mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech where he worked at Research Area 3.He later taught at Brandon Hall, then returned to Georgia Tech and retired in 1982.Mr. Harrison lived at Lake Junaluska, NC before moving to Wesley Mountain Village near Blairsville, GA.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2 at Mountain Presbyterian Church with Pastor Travis K. Adams officiating.In lieu of flowers please send donations to Mountain Presbyterian Church, 2945 Young Harris Hwy, Blairsville, GA 30512, Travis K. Adams, Pastor.

david jason lovell

 

Mr. David Jason Lovell, age 21, of Freeport, Fla., formerly of Blairsville, passed away following injuries received from an automobile accident.David was born on October 14, 1981 in Union County.The son of Donald James Lovell and Debbie Jean Potts Lovell, he was a native and lifelong resident of Union County.He had attended the Union County School System and was a member of the Ranger Baptist Church in Murphy.

Surviving David are his parents, Donald and Debbie Lovell of Freeport, Fla; two brothers, Jacob Lovell and Joshua Lovell, both of Freeport; Grandmother, Reeva Potts of Young Harris, GA; many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 1, 2003 at 2:00 PM from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Horace Potts and Rev. Michael Potts officiating.Special music was presented by the Kelley Trio.Pallbearers were Travis Postell, Bill Burnette, George Burnette, William Lovell, Christopher Lovell and Gregory Lovell.Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Davidís cousins.Interment followed in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Young Harris.

elmer ellsworth owens

 

Mr. Elmer Ellsworth Owens, Sr., age 83, of Hood Street in Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2003 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.Mr. Owens was born on July 25, 1920 in Clinton, Indiana.Mr. Owens was a veteran of the US Army of WWII.He had made his home in Blairsville for the past eighteen years; moving here from Jacksonville, Fla.

Surviving Mr. Owens are his loving wife of eighteen years, Lela Sowers Owens of Blairsville; two sons and daughters in Law, Elmer Ellsworth, Jr. and Becky Owens of Walhalla, SC., Tony and Wanda Owens of Morganton, two grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Owens, both of Walhalla; many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will held at a later date and will be announced.

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Isabel Ray of Blairsville, GA., formerly of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2003 in Union General Hospital, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Ray was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 19, 1917 and later resided in Saugatuck, Michigan.Most of her life was spent in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her family.Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Lee Ray.

Survivors include her sister and brother in law, Jim and Eleanor Norrix of Delmar, NY; son and daughter in law, Bob and Joyce Ray of Bloomingdale, Michigan; daughter and son in law, Doug and Nancy Triestram of Blairsville, GA; six grandchildren, Ron Ray, Tom Ray, Sandy Arduin, Cathy Ray, Karin Sauer and Debbie Horvath; six great-grandchildren, Matthew and Allison Horvath, Nick and Andrew Sauer, Caitie and Megan Arduin.A number of nieces and nephews also survive.Memorial services will be held in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday, September 13, 2003.The family requests that contributions be made to Macular Degeneration Research (800) 437-2423.
