MRS. RUTH HUNTER

 

Mrs. Ruth Garnet Hunter, age 67, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2001, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mrs. Hunter was born in Missouri on Friday May 4, 1934, a daughter of the late James McDaniel and Hattie Frye McDaniel.  She had lived in the Blairsville area for the past 35 years, moving here from Illinois.  Mrs. Hunter was a caregiver.  Her husband, Bill Hunter, passes away in 1988.

Survivors include a special friend, Lawrence Harris, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Rita Holloway; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Michael Cook, all of Blairsville; sisters: Hester Tidwell, Betty Riley, Linda Welch, Wasane Soloman, Lavona Twitty, and Pauline Boyd, all of Missouri; and brother, Frank McDaniel, also of Missouri; four grandchildren: Laura Stanley, Jason Cook, Christ Holloway, and Justin Holloway, all of blairsviller; three great grandchildren: Colton Stanley, Kyndal Stanley, and Laken Cook, also survive, also with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home Blairsville, with Rev. Brent Chatham and Rev. Tommy Jones officiating.  Special music was presented by The Faith Singers.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Bob Head, W.C. Nelson, Wayne Abercrombie, Craig Stephens, Jeep Stephens, and Kenneth Jenkins.  Interment was in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

MRS. COLEEN DONAHUE

 

Mrs. Coleen Donahue, age 59, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, September 24, 2001, at her home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Donahue was born in Pierce County, Washington, on Sunday, July 5, 1942, a daughter of the late Edward Steele and Lillian Larsen Steele.  She had lived in Blairsville since 1981, moving here from Atlanta.  In earlier years, she had been an administrator at Georgia Tech for 5 years, and also supervised student teachers for Purdue University.  Mrs. Donahue was a teacher and counselor in the Union County Public School System for 18 years  She was active in SAFE and served on their board of directors.  Mrs. Donahue was a member of Unity Church in Blairsville.

Survivors include her husband, Mike, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Gina Donahue, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Karen Donahue, of Peachtree City, GA; sister, Gale Wood, of Missouri; grandson, Matt Donahue and granddaughter, Quinn Donahue.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

A family memorial service was held.

MR. RICHEY KIMSEY

 

Mr. Richey Kimsey, age 39, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 23, 2001 following an extended illness.

Mr. Kimsey was a native of Union County, Georgia, and had lived in Atlanta, Georgia for 14 years before moving back to Blairsville in 1997.  He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Steve and Jimmye Kimsey of Blairsville; sister and brother-in-law, Stacie and Tony Dinatale, of Blairsville; niece, Kenzie Dinatale and nephews, Tyler Dinatale, both of Blairsville; many other relatives and friends also service.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at 2 pm from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation at the funeral home will begin on Tuesday evening from 6-9 pm.

MRS. PATRICIA DIANE GRIBBLE HELTON

 

Mrs. Patricia Diane Gribble Helton, age 47, of Maryville, TN, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2001, at her home in Maryville following an extended illness.  Mrs. Helton was born on April 30, 1954 in Maryville, TN, the daughter of the late Robert Gribble and Ina Jones Gribble.  She had made her home in Union Co. for the past twenty years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Helton in 2000.  She was a member of The Bunker Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Helton are: her mother, Ina Jones Gribble of Blue Ridge; several aunts, nieces, and cousins, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Waymon Lovell and Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins officiating.  Special music was presented by Hubert and Betty Legg.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Larry Lunsford, Richard Crowell, Tim McMillian, Bobby Cantrell, Wade McMillian and Tony McMillian.  Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery.

MRS. VIRGINIA T. BOECKEL

 

Mrs. Virginia t. Boeckel, age 79, of My Creek Rd., Blairsville, passed away  on Wednesday, September 19, 2001, at her home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Boeckel was born on August 9, 1922 in Delta, PA, the daughter of the late Ross Taylor and the late Verna Redmond Taylor.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Boeckel, Sr., in 1999.  Mrs. Boeckel was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church in Wrightesville, PA.

Surviving Mrs. Boeckel are one son and daughter-in-law, James and Ester Boeckel, of Blairsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith Woods and Timmothy Hershner of Oldsmare, FL, two brothers: Ronald Taylor and Carol Taylor, both of York, PA,, two sisters: Irma Dettinger and Betty Heffner, both of PA, four grandchildren: Laurel Wilson of Palm Harbor FL, Holly Clark of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph Burke of Minorsville, PGA, James Burke of Dallstown, PA; five great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services and interment will be held from the Curlew Hills Memory Gardens in Palm Harbor, FL at a later date and will be announced.
