Howard and Nellie are both buried at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, Marietta, Cobb County, Ga.
When Howard was a very small boy he got into the chewing tobacco in his father's grocery store in Alpharetta and almost died. Another time he couldn't be found. His frantic parents and the store customers searched a long time before he was found asleep behind the store counter.
He worked as a finisher of furniture for J.P.Womack & Sons on Lakewood Ave in the 1930s. Also worked as a finisher for Ansley Hotel, and retired from the Maintenance Dept of Grady Hospital, Atlanta, Ga when he was 65. He died of throat cancer, and Nellie died of lung cancer. State trooper friends of his son escorted both his parents funeral processions.
His parents were Claude Harrison Martin 1880-1943 Apharetta, Fulton County, Ga and Martha Louvina "Mattie" DODD Martin 1883-1931 Apharetta, Ga. His grandparents were John C. Martin 1825-1899 Milton County, Ga. and Lucy C. DODD Martin 1832-1903 Milton County, Ga.
