PEEK, Henry
b. Dec. 25, 1766,
d. between 1855-57
While residing in Richmond Co., GA., age 15 years, Henry Peek enlisted in the Revolutionary War on January 7, 1781 and served six months as a private with Col. Elijah Clark as commander of the Regiment. Capt. John Peek (his father) commanded the company. He was at the seige of Augusta, GA. and left the service in July 1781. In August he reinlisted in Capt. Ezekiel Stalling's Company with Col. Elijah Clark's Regiment. He was granted a pension December 24, 1832. This pension was later revoked. He is listed in the records of Revolutionary Soldiers of Georgia.

War of 1812

PERRY, Shadrack was a member of the Georgia Militia, Calvary, Freeman's Squadron, Capt. Lewis' company. This was during 1813-1814. (See letter) In this letter he mentions his commanding officer, and Gen. Lee....this would have been Gen. "Lighthorse" Harry Lee, Robert E. Lee's father.

Shadrack later received 200 acres in Washington county, Ga. for his service to the military. I haven't had any luck learning where this land was, but he was living there when the 1820 census was taken. (pg. 126, no TWP listed)

"Mounticello 22 March 1814"
"Sir I wright to you to Inform you of my situation. I am in want of money. Capt. Irwin persented a powerr which I give him to recive and cecit for my wages but failed to get it and as I am under your direction as an Express baror it was out of my power to attend at Milledgville when Capt. Irwins Trupe of Cavelry was paid of to which I belong to as such I have no one to look to but you to befriend me in this case. Bridg. Janural Lee directted me to write to you and you would ishue an order that would draw my money for my service Sir worthy of as a Dragoon. Sir if you ishue any instrument of srighting send it to me and I can ??? it to Majer Fremon who will do the business for me, I am with respect your humble servant

A handwritten copy of this letter was sent to me by the NARA and is very light and somewhat difficult to read. However, there aren't too many spelling errors and the handwriting is good.
Elizabeth Douglass, wife of Shadrack Perry, is buried Tuskegee City Cemety, Macon co. Ala.
John Junius Perry, MD. md Willie Jane Nobles of Jackson Co. Fla. Both died/buried Waller Co.Tx. Hempstead Cemety.
John Junius Perry, Judge and Sheriff of Waller co.Tx., md Priscilla Roberts both died/buried Waller co.Tx. Hempstead Cemety.

Muster Roll of Company D, 19th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry Army of Tennessee Coweta County, Georgia. Senoia Infantry
This company appears to have been organized as Co. D, 2d Regiment, 4th Brigade, Georgia State Troops June 11, 1861. There are no rolls of this company on file in the War Dept. at Washington, D. C. Peek, E. T.- private June 26,1861. Admitted to Chimborazo Hospital #1, Richmond, Va., with measles, June 11,1862. No later record.

PEEK, Thomas Mayburn
b. ca 1828,
d. bef Dec. 9, 1863
He enrolled on March 4, 1862 in Cedartown, Polk Co. GA
He was in Company A, 1st Georgia Cavalry,listed as a private.
He was in Capt. Crabb's company, Lt. Col. Morrison's Batt'n GA Cavalry at Camp Morrison. He enrolled on March 4, 1862 in Cedartown, Polk Co. GA and he was on duty for 3 years. His horse was valued at $175. Thomas Mayburn Peek was supposed to have worked at Cunyard, GA or it may be a government shop called Cunyard as a wheelwright. He worked for the Civil War effort in that way, and that though he was only 15 was in the Civil War. Thomas owned 160 acres of land in or just outside of Atlanta, GA. and that Sherman's forces burned it when they burned Atlanta. He contracted chicken pox from a black man at work and died there in 1863.

PEEK, Thomas Washington
b.April 9, 1847,
d. Feb. 13, 1935
enlisted in 1862 in GA state troops and 1864 Co. D, Davis Battalion in Atlanta.
His pension application # is 22446, filed Aug 30, 1913 and approved Sept. 1, 1913. A note says, "Parole mailed to T.W. Peak, Naples Texas on request June 5, 191?" He quotes that he was paroled at Kingston GA, May 12, 1865, that he is 67 yrs old, born in Newton Co.,GA, lived in TX 35 yrs, resides in Morris co., An affidavit of witness completed by T. B. (Troup) Peek states "I am a brother of T.W. Peak. I was not old enough to go to the war. But Remember that my brother was in the service. I well remember his coming home in 1863 wounded. I remember my mother dressing his wound, and also receiving letters from him while he was in the service." T.B. Peak.
