ADAMS, William Born 12 May 1800 in "big ole original Washington County, Ga." Died 1837; place unknown. He was killed in some battle and buried there. This is my g. grandfather. Born 1805 Greene Co., Georgia Died 29 Apr 1870 Americus, Sumter, Georgia Submitted by Gerry Hill, Sep 2002 HOUSTON, Thomas A. Born 1796 McIntosh County, Georgia Died 1875 Duval County, Florida Served as A Private in the Seminole Wars of 1818. Captain Andrew Fleming Fraser's Company; Major John Minton's Battalion; Gen Glascocks Brigade; Georgia Militia; MG Andrew Jackson's Division. Unit was engaged in punitive expediton to Florida against the hostile Seminoles. Received Military Land Bounty Grants for his service in the war. Submitted by Thomas D. Houston, 12 Apr 2003 THOMAS, Dixon, Sr. Born 1805 Screven Co., Georgia Died 10 Sep 1857 Charlton Co., Georgia (buried unknown). He married Susannah Bennett on 2 May 1831 in Bulloch Co., Georgia. While living in Franklinville, Lowndes Co., Georgia, Dixon Thomas enlisted twice and was drafted once during the Creek Indian War (Florida War). He enlisted on 6 Aug 1836 in 1st Company, and was discharged on 6 Sep 1836. On 19 Sep 1836, he was drafted into 2nd Company and discharged on 20 Oct 1836. His final enlistment began on 15 Aug 1838 in 3rd Company at Camp Douglas, Georgia and ended on 15 Oct 1838. During this enlistment, he served on the Georgia and Florida line around the Okefenokee Swamp. All enlistments were in Captain Levi J. Knight's Infantry Company (Mounted Vols.) of the 81st Georgia Militia. Total days served for all three enlistments was 120 days.
