OUR MISSION: The Walker County African American Historical and Alumni Association is a registered 501-3c organization committed to the recording, preservation and celebration of the history of African Americans in Walker County, Georgia.
We also work to contribute to the sense of community and connection among Walker County Schools' African American Alumni, and assist in the retention and successful high school completion of Walker County's students of African Descent through the use of African American History.
About our Logo: The logo of the Walker Count African American Historical and Alumni Association represents the journeys of our African ancestors who came voluntarily to the Americas before Columbus as well as those that were forcibly transported during the 300-year holocaust of the Europeans' trans-Atlantic slave trade of Africans. It represents a continent of people forced to leave mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, religion, land, language, traditions and freedom for the advancement of western "civilization".
Still, they rose!
