There are two modes

Mail and Digest. The Mail Mode sends you the messages as soon as they are received. The digest mode groups the messages and sends them in "bunches".

and nothing else. Either turn off any signature line(s) or erase it/them.

If you prefer the digest mode,

Send the command that contains the word

subscribe

to GAWILKES-D-request@rootsweb.com
and nothing else.

Either turn off any signature line(s) or erase it/them.

To unsubscribe

For the Mail Mode send the command

unsubscribe

and nothing else. to
GAWILKES-L-request@rootsweb.com

Either turn off any signature line(s) or erase it/them.

In the Digest Mode

Send the command

unsubscribe

and nothing else. to
GAWILKES-D-request@rootsweb.com

Either turn off any signature line(s) or erase it/them.

To switch from one mode to the other

Unsubscribe from one and then subscribe to the other.
There is no "no mail" mode. If You want messages to stop for a while, you should simply unsubscribe

To post to the lists (both GAWILKES-L and GAWILKES-D),

messages should be sent to GAWILKES-L@rootsweb.com
Messages sent there will appear both places.
