My grandmother on my fathers side was a MCALPIN. A direct ancestor: Alexander McAlpin, originally came to S. Carolina; but moved to Wilkes Co. Georgia after receiving a bounty land grant for his service as a Captain in the Revolutionary army.
EIDSON: Lucy Eidson married Garland COSBY in Wilkes Co, GA. He died in 1814 in SC as a prisoner of war. Lucy was possibly related to Thomas Eidson whose will (s/p? 4 Nov 1833) paid shares to Lucy Cosby's children. Lucy possibly related to John Eidson who lived in District I (Capt. Criswell's district). Lucy had a daughter, Lucy, who married Jonathan SMITH. Any information on the parents/place of origin of Lucy Eidson will be appreciated.
THOMPSON, TOUCHSTONE. My ancestor David B. Thompson (b. 1769 in Wilkes Co. Ga.) married Florence Nancy Touchstone in Balwin County Georgia and moved to Washington County Alabama between 1807-11. Seeking information on Jeremiah REEVES, Sr and Jeremiah REEVES, JR., who moved to Wilkes County from NC. Jeremiah, Jr. was a deacon of Sardis Baptist Church in 1806, and in 1813 was named pastor of both Sardis and Skull Shoals Baptist churches in Wilkes. We see him listed on the 1830 census and that he had a pick in the 1832 land lottery but then he disappears. We don't know who he married.
