HARPER,Sr. m. DUNLAP, Mary M in Georgia Deed Book A-VV, 1784-1806, of Early Wilkes Co. (or so I have been told. I need a look-up!). Robert was probably born about 1721 in VA, I think. They had some children born in Halifax, VA. Their children, so far as I know, are Alexandria, Sr., Robert, William, Samuel, James, John, and George. Floy Adkisson
HARPER, Samuel m. (1) BONNER, Ruth Hipley CHANEY, (2) ?, Sarah. Samuel was b. abt. the mid 1700's. He was evidently one of the Hardin Creek Harpers of Early Wilkes Co. His father was Robert HARPER, and his mother was Mary M. DUNLAP. It is believed that he had a son named Philip HARPER. Does anyone have any information about this family? If so, please contact me. NELSON, John. Resided Wilkes Co. prior to the Revolution on land granted by King George III. Wife was Elinor and children were : William NELSON (married Elizabeth and had sons John and Charles), Lucy NELSON and Mary Ann NELSON. William NELSON'S son, John NELSON married Sophia W. I am searching for information on my great- great grandparents. Their names were James William SMITH and Mattie Ann Russell Bell SMITH. She was married previously to a man named BELL. My grandfather's (Benjamin Clark SMITH, son of James William and Mattie) death announcement in the paper says that he was born in Wilkes County Georgia November 23, 1891. I found James William and Mattie in the 1900 census of Elbert County in the Eliam district. I have been unable to locate them prior to this. If anybody has a connection to Smith's with a possible connection I would love to hear from you. I have been told that James William died around 1903-1904 and was buried in Elbert County. I haven't been able to locate his grave. I am hoping to visit Washington and do some research myself soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Francis Marion NEAL / NAIL b. 1821 Al. was son of Sarah (Sally) NEAL / NAIL b. abt 1790 Tn. and was in Lauderdale Co. Al. 1840 and had moved on to Monroe Co. Ms. by 1850. I'm a decendant of Henry STARR who was married to Mary Starr. They were living in Wilkes County in 1783. He acquired many hundred acres as part of the Bounty Grant Land. 200 acres in 1788 and 350 acres in 1792. He was a pioneer in the County and established himself and raised a large family in an area referred to as Starr's Hill. I'm trying to find Henry's ancestors.
