I am looking for information on John GRIFFIN who was a lawyer and Judge in Wilkes Co. in 1700's. He was married to Sarah (Sallie) WILLIAMSON, dgt. of Col. Micajah Williamson. Their son, Ferdinand Griffin migrated to Amite Co., Mississippi and married Mary KENNEDY. I read that John GRIFFIN was "a Virginia gentleman" prior to moving to Wilkes Co., Georgia. I am at a dead end and would appreciate any information on this John GRIFFIN family. Thanks.

Believe her father was probably either the William or Thomas MCLAIN listed on the Wilkes Co, GA Militia Roll for 1789. William and Thomas MCLAIN are both listed on the 1800 Oglethorpe Co, GA census. It is my quess that my gggggf, Samuel Elias FRANKS, is the son of Peter FRANKS, who is the son of Jacob FRANKS, who is the son of John Martin FRANCKS of Craven Co. NC, who came from Prussia ca. 1709. My Samuel Elias FRANKS is said to have been born ca. 1794 in SC; he married Rosanna WATERS ca. 1814; their first child was born in 1817 supposedly in SC. The wife of Jacob FRANKS is Elizabeth RICHARDSON. The father of Rosanna WATERS is Westwood WATERS who died in Franklin Co. GA in 1799.
