I am looking for information on my line of Moore's. My research has led me to Wilkes County, I think. I believe my ggrandfather, James Michael MOORE, his father, William Franklin Moore, and his father, Matthew Moore, lived in Wilkes Co. between 1800 and 1860. I know Matthew Moore was married in Wilkes Co. My ggrandfather, James Michael Moore was born in 1845, I think in Wilkes Co. He served in the 45th Georgia Infantry Division during the War of Northern Aggression and finally settled in Jones Co. However, he, nor William Franklin Moore, his father, appear in the 1850 Jones Co. census and I believe they were living in Wilkes Co. at the time. I would appreciate any information on these people, particularly Matthew Moore. My family has been looking for it's "roots" for 30 years and I am stuck on Matthew Moore.

I am interested in sharing information on the BAILEY, EVANS, and LATIMER'S of Wilkes County, Georgia. My grandfather was Oscar Lane Mack Bailey (1868-1928)born in Wilkes County, Ga. His father, my g grandfather was Francis Simon Bailey, whose father was Russell Bailey. My grandmother was Mary Ida Jane Latimer Bailey born in Wilkes County in 1877 to Clarke Henry Latimer and Lucy Acquilla Evans Latimer. I don't have any information on the Latimers and would appreciate hearing from someone about them. The story is that Clarke Henry got his arm cut off in a mill or gin and bled to death. His wife grieved herself to death and my grandmother was raised by her sister. According to records that I have seen, Clarke Henry Latimer was the first person buried in the Rehoboth Church Cemetery. It has been reported to me that Lucy Acquilla Evans Latimer (my great grandmother) was born to Judge John Rogers Evans and Sarah W. Battles Evans on Jan 5, 1845. I would appreciate any information on the Evans genealogy line. What kind of Judge was he? Who was the town of Evans, Ga named after? I do know that that John Rodgers and Sarah W. were married in Hancock County, Ga. Any information is appreciated.
