Searching for information concerning Nathan Williams, born ca 1773, died Mar 1836, Butts Co., Ga. Lived in Wilkes, Greene and Jasper Co., Ga. Mothers name Jane, sister Martha (Patty) Williams Price who married Ephriam Price, Rev. war soldier. Nathan married Lucy Ann Echoles, Nathan had children, not sure if all by Lucy, - Lydia E., married Marcus Elam Carter; Agnes R., married Mr. Evans; Clinton Addison, married Mary Ann Clower; Thurza H., married William Sims Williams; Nathan H., married Aramintha Jane Potter; John Rowland, married Courtney Broom; Nancy Orina, married William Pinkney Irvin; James Melford, married Mary Jane Smith; William Mark, married Geneva Martin , Hannah Gray & Armanda Kilpatrick. Nathan married Elizabeth Townsend 6 Jan 1823, children Martha Townsend and Mary Ann. From data collected we know Nathan Williams' mother was Jane Williams, she may have been same Jane Williams wife of Rowland from Wilkes Co. Ga. but have not been able to directly tie Nathan to Rowland. Rowland may have been Nathans brother and Jane may have remarried to Rowland, if so this would make Rowland, Nathans step father, and may indicate why Nathan was not in Rowlands will. William Mark Williams may have been Nathans grandfather.

R.(ichard)Perteet was a slave owner, Washburn was a slave he possibly owned or knew. I am under the assumption that he owned Ruth Washburn and had a child by her. The son, Solomon Perteet was listed as a free mulatto in Tuscaloosa, Al. in the 1830 census. I am assuming that R. Perteet set his son free somewhere around the late 1820's. There should be a will stating this since Solomon Perteet had a paper showing his parentage and his freedom papers.
