According to the book on the Wilkes County Papers, Thomas ROSE received a land grant from Sir James Wright in Savannah between November 7, 1774 and March 10, 1775. The grant was for 200 acres in Wilkes County on a ridge between Coody's and Butram's Creek at a spring where he now liveth. Thomas ROSE was from North Carolina, had a wife, five sons and a daughter, all between 16 and 3 years old. I would like to know: where in North Carolina he came from and what were the names of his wife and children. Thanks!

Seeking information on Elizabeth CLARK(E) [b. 15 FEB 1720 in Hanover Co, VA, d. 1813 in Wilkes Co, GA, per LDS records]. She is daughter of Christopher CLARKE (b. 1681 in Nansemond, Somerton Co, England, d. 1754 in Louisa Co, VA). DAR records show Elizabeth's mother to be Penelope Massie BOWLING (is BOWLING her maiden name or a previous marriage?), said to have married Christopher CLARKE prior to 1700. However, LDS records give Elizabeth's mother as Penelope JOHNSTON (b. 14 AUG 1864 in VA, d. 17 AUG 17__ in St. Peter's Parish, VA). Which is correct? I would like to exchange with descendants and other researchers on this line. I have data on the line of Elizabeth's great-granddaughter Nancy Tate (ANTHONY) LOKEY (1814-1868), who is buried in Muscogee Co, GA. ADAMS, CRUMP, HERNDON, HUNT posted by Richard Adams Stokes on Thursday, May 28, 1998

An Indenture was made 11 August 1794 whereby Richardson and Nancy Martin HUNT sold 1000 acres of land on Beaverdam Creek in Elbert County to Josias P. ADAMS for the promise of delivery of five slaves by 1 January 1798. The document stated Josias was late of Virginia, but at the time of the Indenture of Augusta (in Richmond County). The land had been granted to HUNT in 1787 when the land was in Wilkes County. After a sheriff's sale, an Indenture made 1 September 1795 returned the 1000 acres to Richardson HUNT as the highest bidder at a public sale. LDS records list a Josias ADAMS born 23 September 1762 in Fauquier County, VA. LDS records also list a marriage of 1 February 1792 between a Josias P. ADAMS and Elizabeth CRUMP in Fauquier County, VA. Are these the same Josias? Can anyone help supply more information about Josias? Did he have children in either Virginia or Georgia? What was his fate? I search for the parents of a James ADAMS, born in Virginia in 1795, married Frances HERNDON in 1820 in Elbert County, and died in 1857 in Jasper County, Georgia. This James is not James B., born the same year in Virginia, whose father was Thomas ADAMS, a Revolutionary War soldier. Any clues would be appreciated.
