BATES, BOSWELL, LUCAS posted by Walter BOSWELL on Sunday, June 7, 1998

I have been trying to follow my ancestry in Georgia. I have reached Wilkes County from Talbot County where two generations of BOSWELLS are buried. My great, great grandfather, John Anderson BOSWELL, was born in Wilkes County in 1832. His father's name was George BOSWELL who was born in 1811. I do not know where George BOSWELL was born except that it was in Georgia. I am looking for any sort of information concerning John Anderson Boswell, 1832-1911; his wife Caroline BATES, 1813-1895; his father, George BOSWELL, 1811-1855; and his wife, Lucinda Elizabeth LUCAS, 1833-1910. All are buried in Junction City(TC),Georgia except George BOSWELL and Caroline BATES. Thank you for your help. I've sort of hit a snag with John Anderson BOSWELL's birth and his father's birth.

SMITH posted by Ginger Howell on Tuesday, June 30, 1998

I found a James W Smith who fits my profile. He was born in Wilkes County, Georgia in 1844. I found him in the 1850 census and the 1860 census. In the 1870 census, the rest of the family is there, but he is gone. This coincides with the fact that he was in Alabama in 1880 census and married Mary Elizabeth Reynolds of Alabama sometime between 1870 and 1872 (their first child was born in 1873). In 1860 census, the parents are James F Smith age 49, Martha F Smith age 47, children: Charles E (22), Elizabeth (19), James W (16), John H (14), Emma H (12), Martha F (7), Vincent T (5), Julia A (2), and Robert (4 months). Does any of this ring any bells? Do you know the exact date this James W Smith was born?
