ANDERSON, JENKINS, NOWLAND posted by Oliver Watkins Jenkins, Jr. on Friday, July 24, 1998

In the 1820 Wilkes County census, Francis JENKINS, Sterling JENKINS Sr's first son who was born in 1777, appears to be living next door to Sterling JENKINS Sr's second wife. I am assuming that Sterling was unable to function as the head of the household by reason of infirmity or death. My understanding is that Sterling died in 1823. In the 1830 census, Leroy JENKINS is shown as the head of the household where Francis had been in the previous census. My understanding is that Leroy, who was born in 1807, was the son of Catherine ANDERSON NOWLAND JENKINS and Sterling, Sr.. Does anyone know if Francis JENKINS had a son named Leroy ? If so, does anyone know who his mother was? Was Francis JENKINS still alive at the time of the 1830 census? Thanks for reading this and even greater thanks if you try to help. Oliver

COCHRAN, COHRON posted by Ron Hall on Friday, July 31, 1998

Looking for information on the COHRON/COCHRAN family that is included in several documents of early Wilkes Co. I'm mainly trying to determine if the line whose first representative in Georgia was Cornelius is the same as that of William Leonidas listed in the 1840 Troup Co. census. I think the line runs from Cornelius to Job to John, then William Leonidas. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
