I have posted numerous will/land transactions to the Wilkes County USGenweb site concerning Garrett OGLESBY [son of Thomas, who migrated from Virginia c. 1800]. Garrett himself was one of a dozen or so children, and he and wife Ruth BRADLEY had another dozen or so, so there are many, many descendants to be tracked. Family originally settled in the Dove Creek area. Would be interested in correspondence with any and all folks descended from or allied with this family.

There was a large Scot-Irish community at Bethany between the forks of the Ogeechee river. They might possibly have moved there as the Irish tended to stay together. BALLARD, HILL posted by Charles W. Hill on Sunday, March 14, 1999

Earlier I entered a request for info on my grandfather, Benjamin Hill b about 1796. My information shows him in Taliaferro County but prior to that I think Wilkes County. I had his wife as Lucy Gafford, but I have learned that he married Lucy Ballard, daughter of James Ballard and Frnacis Ballard (maiden name was Francis Willis) Francis later marrie Thomas Gafford, which led to my confusion. It seems this happens a lot in genealogy. Bejamin and Lucy moved to Dougherty County, GA in 1852 along with their son William Jackson Hill and his new wife, Elizabeth Wilder and a group of Wilders and Hills. ???Now my main hope is getting info on the marriage of Lucy and Benjamin. In addition anything that I can use to track down who is father was. I believe Robert Hill but I do not have it down pat. Thanks a lot for any help. Charles Hill
