Strange request, I know: Does anyone have knowledge of a semi-retarded young man who was the only surviving child of an older woman. I think this was during the early 1900's. He could talk very little, if at all. He was very thin, always wore a white dress shirt, bow tie, and glasses.

COOK, Richard L, b 23 July 1829, d 30 Aug 1903 m. Martha Ann Geesling Jan 31, 1850 12 children: Marion Linton, Elisabeth Duggan, Jessie Joyce, Richard Louis, Martha Ann, Georgia Ann Augusta, Beauliar Tyrloliar, Joseph Lee, Henry Lawrence, Thomas Lonzo, Oscar Lafayette, Fanny Olive. Richard and Martha Ann appear in the Warren County, GA Census for 1850 and 1860. I know he moved to Boston GA after the civil war, but I have no information on his place of birth or siblings or parents. He worked for Georgia Southern Railway during the late 19th century. Maybe he came from Wilkes county?

I am looking for furhter information on the family of a man named Daniel Lett. In 1810 men anemd KINMNA and GRANT deeded property to the children of Daniel LETT "out of pity and compassion" The property was composed of household furnishings (pots and pans eating utensils, etc). This man appears on the 1793 tax lists by people named KINMAN, OSBURN, HUDSON, SAXON...many of these names continue with the Lett family in moves to KY and IN. I beleive that Daniel Lett died in 1801, and relatives of his children mother provided for them...I can not find marriage records on Daniel, will, estate, etc. ANY help appreciated...Thanks

She married John Walker in 1842 in Houston Co. According to oral history from one of my aunts, she had two brothers, Dan Towns and Elijah (or Elisha) Towns. There is a community south of McRae in Telfair Co. named Towns after this family.
