HOW TO PLAY GENEALOGY TRIVIA GAME IN THE CHAT ROOM

Whomever scores highest each week will become the following week's game host. Please join us!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Before The Game

Hosts must come up with 31 questions (30 for everyone playing and an additional question in the event of a tie). These questions can be about a specific genealogy topic of the host's choosing or can fall under the "general genealogy knowledge" category.

Questions can be from any source - websites, books, or genealogy magazines. They must be "TRUE FACTS" related to the genealogy subject. It is strongly recommended that the questions be typed in advance using a word processing program so that the host need only copy and paste them in the chat room during the game.

In addition to preparing the questions, it is the host's responsibility to either select a volunteer scorekeeper or keep score him/herself. The scorekeeper will keep track of who got each question right and announce the winner at the end of the game.

During The Game

The host asks each question and waits for the correct answer to be given. (THE HOST TEXT FONT MUST BE IN RED DURING THE GAME) As soon as he/she sees the first correct answer, the host posts an icon - example: - to let all players know it's time to stop guessing. The host then announces which player gave the correct answer first and what the correct answer was. The scorekeeper will then award that player one point and the game continues.

At any time during the game the host can ask the scorekeeper to annouce the current scores. This not only keeps the game exciting, it gives the players (and the host) a bit of a break. A "score check" is suggested at least once near the middle of the game and then again before the 30th question.
