Clackamas County
Family History Society

In 1842, the wagon trains of hardy pioneers set out for the fertile Willamette Valley of Oregon. With fortitude and courage, this venture would take over two months before they would see a trading post. Between 1841 and 1869, nearly 300,000 Americans made the 2,000 mile journey west. Many died along the way. What they accomplished made history.

Their activities became recorded statistics of a real melting pot of people. Hardly a family in the east or middle west was not affected by this great exodus to the west.

So they came, to the End of the Oregon Trail...

      Their journey was incredible.
