    Mercy Ayers, a daughter of Moses and Dorcas (Cox) Ayers, was born in

Sussex County NJ December 19, 1763 and died in Wayne County March 27,

1846. She married Hugh Morgan. Hugh, a son of John Morgan, was born in

Monongalia County VA January 1, 1759 and died in Wayne County OH May 27,

1844.

    The family moved to Wayne County OH about 1814.

    David Ayers, a son of Moses and Dorcas (Cox) Ayers, was born in NJ

about 1766 and died in Wayne County OH in 1819. He married Elizabeth

-----. He was living in Allegay County MD in 1800 and in 1810. In 1811,

David gave his final account of his guardianship of his nepehew and

niece, William and Mary Ayers, orphans of his brother Michael and turned

over all funds to his brother Samuel.

    He purchased land in Wayne County OH in 1814. this land was recorded

as paid in full January 18, 1838. The payments must have been made by

his widow, Elizabeth.

    Administrative papers for David's estate were filed in Wayne county

court October 4, 1819.

    Elizabeth Ayers married Jacob White in Wayne County October 12 1820.

   Samuel Ayers was born about 1770.  He married Margaret Gainer in

Allegany County MD.  Margaret, a daughter of Brian and Mary Gainer,

was born in Allegany County about 1775.  They are buried on Savage

Mountain near Lonaconing, MD.

    Moses Ayers, a son of Samuel and Margaret (Gainer) Ayers, was born

in Allegheney County Maryland about 1797.  He married Vashti Potter.

Vashti, a daughter of Kelitha and Catherine (trimble) Potter, was born

in Allageheney County in 1800.   The family moved from MD to Gilmer

County VA (WV) in 1845.
