1.ALPHEUS W. BLACK

 

     Alpheus W. Black was born in Barbour County VA about 1832 and died in Gilmer County WV before 1860. He married Isabella (Stump) Vannoy in Gilmer County VA (WV) March 26, 1854. Isabella, a daughter of Jacob and Jane (Boggs) Stump, was born in Gilmer County VA (WV) about 1827. She had married Benjamin Gainer Vannoy in Gilmer County May 13, 1841. Benjamin, a son of Francis and Mary "Molly" (Gainer) Vannoy, was born in VA May 29, 1815 and died in Gilmer County after 1850.

Isabella married John Springston after Alpheus died.
