QUERY: Answer For Fran Daniels on TANNER. I know that William, John and Joseph Tanner came to America from London in or about 1682 with William Penn. William's occupation was a "tanner", John's was Distiller and it doen't mention what Joseph did. But they were Quakers. I haven't researched their line but I see them "pop" up a lot and will forward what I find. Edward Tanner bought 300 acres in Monongalia Co. on Buchanan River in 1773, its now in Upshur Co. Edward was Captured by indians in 1782. In another report from Fairfax Co. MM (Quaker Records) A rachael Tanner reports she had been violated by William Hacker, and he was thrown out of the meetings. This was Dec 31, 1757. It looks like Edward is mentioned on his Upshur co property in 1774 and 1776. If I find more I'll send them on.
