- Nicholas Sinks was born about 1771, possibly in Rockingham County, Virginia, from whence he moved about 1797 to Newtown, Ohio, to "follow tanning" with his wife Margaret Pence, born about 1774 in Virginia. In 1801, they relocated to Williamsburg, Ohio where he established a tanyard, and, in the spring of 1804, purchased a tavern and its goodwill from Thomas Morris. The tavern, across the street from the courthouse, was often used as a meeting place, including the first meeting of the Board of Commissioners, 4 Jun 1804. In 1805, Nicholas resided in the house in which it was decided to use one room for court and he agreed to furnish benches, etc. Nicholas was the third postmaster of Williamsburg and county treasurer for seventeen years, and otherwise prominent in public affairs.
Nicholas died 9 Apr 1825 in Williamsburg, Clermont Co Ohio, at 53 years of age. His body was interred in Williamsburg Cemetery. In the 1850 census, Margaret was still alive, living with her daughter Margaret Sinks Justice.

- Edward Sinks (Nicholas) was born in Ohio about 1798 and died before 1860. He married Sarah Calvin Salt in Clermont Co Ohio, 17 Oct 1827. Sarah was born in Ohio about 1798, the daughter of Edward Salt and Priscilla Conrey. According to the 1850 census of Clermont County, Edward was a merchant.

- Edward S Sinks was born in Ohio about 1837. In the 1860 census of Clermont County Ohio, Edward is listed as "clerk of store" in his mother's household. He was later listed in the Williamsburg Business Directory as: "E.S. Sinks, Dealer in Fancy, Staple, and Domestic Dry Goods, Groceries, Queensware, Glassware, Hardware, Boots, Shoes, Hats, Caps, Ready-made Clothing, Notions, etc."
- William R Sinks was born in Ohio about 1843.
- Thomas C Sinks was born in Ohio about 1848.
- Georgia A Sinks was born in Ohio about 1852.
- John Sinks was born in Ohio about 1857.
- Nicholas Sinks (Nicholas) was born 19 Apr 1805 in Ohio and died 2 Oct 1845 in Williamsburg, Clermont Co OH, at 40 years of age. He married Martha Ann Posey in Clermont Co OH, 23 Apr 1828. Martha was born in Maryland 15 Jul 1809 and died 9 Dec 1891 in Williamsburg, Clermont Co OH, at 82 years of age. Nicholas and Martha are buried in Williamsburg Cemetery. In 1860, her husband's nephew, George Justice was living in the household and Maria and Felicity were still at home. The family was prosperous as they are listed in 1860 with $2,500 in real estate value and $1,000 in personal estate value. Nicholas was a Masonic Lodge member as was his brother Edward. His wife Martha Ann and all seven children are named in his will [see text file].

- Tiffin Sinks was born in Ohio about 1835. From A T Andreas' 1883 History of Kansas, page 453, "Tiffin Sinks, MD, was one of the pioneer physicians of Leavenworth, Kansas, having located in the town 25 November 1856, and has since that time been engaged in the practice of medicine and surgery. He is now, and has been since the start, secretary of the Leavenworth Coal Company, which was organized in 1863. His medical education was received at the Medical College of Ohio, at Cincinnati, Ohio" (class of 1853?). Tiffin was probably named for Edward Tiffin, the first State Governor of Ohio, inaugurated in 1803.

- Maria Aceneth Sinks was born in Ohio about 1836 and died 25 Nov 1910 in Williamsburg aged 74. In 1877, she married Amos Ellis 1877, as his second wife.

- Felicia H Sinks was born in Ohio about 1844
- Margaret Sinks (Nicholas) was born about 1808 in Ohio. She married Samuel Justice in Clermont Co Ohio, 28 Apr 1831. Samuel was born in New Jersey about 1803.
Margaret Sinks and Samuel Justice had:
- George E Justice was born in Ohio about 1842. In the 1860 census of Clermont County Ohio, George was living with his maternal uncle's widow, Martha Ann Posey Sinks.
- M. Elizabeth Justice was born in Ohio about 1845
- Randolph Sinks (Nicholas) was born in Ohio about 1810 and married Elinor H Clarke in Clermont Co Ohio, 14 Jul 1835, born in Ohio about 1797. According to the 1850 census of Clermont County Ohio, Randolph was a merchant. His 1850 household included Missouri Patterson, age 19, and John Gibson, black laborer aged 65, born in Delaware.
Randolph Sinks and Elinor H Clarke had:
- Augustus M Sinks was born in Ohio about 1838. Augustus was elected clerk of Tate Township for three years in 1863 and is probably the A. M. Sinks referred to on page 369 of the History of Clermont County Ohio as one of the organizers of the Bank of Batavia.

- Randolph M Sinks was born in Ohio about 1843
- George M Sinks was born in Ohio about 1846
- Houston O Sinks was born in Ohio about 1849
- Viola Sinks (Edward, Nicholas) was born in Ohio about 1832 and died 1903 at 71 years of age. In 1854, she married Otis Dudley, born in Harper's Ferry Virginia 29 Jul 1830, the son of Otis Dudley and Elizabeth Richardson. Otis died after 1913. His parents were originally from massachusetts, having moved to Harpers Ferry shortly after their marriage.

- Charles E Dudley was born 2 April 1859
- Frank M Dudley was born 22 Jun 1867
- Olive Sinks (Nicholas, Nicholas) was born in Williamsburg, Clermont Co OH 11 Apr 1841. It appears that in the late 1850's, Olive went to Kansas with her brother Tiffin Sinks, probably to keep house for him as he was a bachelor doctor. This is presumably how she met and, after his first wife's death, married Edward Payson Wilson 6 Sep 1869. [see him for their children]
