Traunau was an ethnic German settlement founded 1786-1787 in the Banat Region, formerly part of central Hungary in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is also known by the Hungarian name Cseralja. Today the village is known as Alunis, Arad County, 2919 Romania. (46n04 lat  21e22 long)
