New Sharon; owns 280 acres of land, valued at $40 per acre; born in Ireland, in 1821; came to America in 1825, and to Iowa in 1855 and settled on present farm; married Laura E. Paugborn in 1844; she was born in New York in 1819; have nine children: Cynthia M., Alonzo W., Mary O., Angelia, Charles, Lucy J., Hiram D., Hester A., William E.; members of the Presbyterian church. Republican.
