Through the courtesy of John Witte we are able to produce in this impression of The Times what we believe to be an almost correct list of the boys who have gone out from Carroll to do battle for the flag that we all love so well and in the cause with which we as a nation are now aligned. Mr. Witte has tried to make the compilation complete and thorough, and if any names have been omitted it has been done through an oversight, and we shall be glad to add any names that friends of the men may suggest, either to Mr. Witte or The Times. We consider this an imposing array of valiant young manhood, and publish the list with a pardonable degree of pride.

Are We Proud of 'em? Rather!

In the last impression of The Times appeared what was thought to be a correct compilation of Carroll boys who enlisted in Uncle Sam's service prior to the president's call for men, but it has been found that several names did not appear, consequently the list has been revised and is being reproduced this week. In addition to the enlisted men also appear the names of those who have been called to the colors by the selective draft. All Carroll is proud of these men who have gone out from good homes and congenial surroundings to do battle in and for a cause founded on the highest ideals of humanity. The many hardships and privations that our boys will necessarily have to undergo can be borne in a better knowledge that the "folks back home" are with them to the last ditch, and The Times hastens to tell these patriots all that such is the case. When the bloody turmoil in which we now are engaged shall have reverted into history it is the fondest hope of The Times that each and every man on the appended honor roll may come back to the loving arms, warm hearts and broken homes that are now clothed in sadness over the enforced absence. That these valiant young men will give a good accounting of themselves and reflect credit upon those back home there arises no question. They are made of the right sort of material to do the big things that has ever identified Carroll citizenship.
