Hilbert Balk

US Army POW by Germans at Bizerte; later turned over to their Italian Allies.

He, with other prisoners, were flown by the Germans to Palermo, Sicily, then transferred to the Italians and flown to Capua, Italy.

He spent six weeks in the Italian concentration camp, was later furloughed to Willey, and after a brief stay at VA hospital, he returned to active duty until the end of the war.
