their ancestors, PLEASE contact us via email!
When requesting a record check, please heed the following guidelines:
- Only one or two related names please.
- Do not ask for "all the Smiths", etc. This might be considered a violation of copyright. Please give a specific person or head of household you are seeking.
- Please wait until your request to an individual has been responded to before asking for another lookup.
- Give the volunteer time to respond to your request. If you have not heard anything within about three weeks, THEN send a polite inquiry as to the status of your request.
- Please do not ask the volunteers for large amounts of information or copies. These requests could cause a copyright violation and we cannot violate copyright "fair use" laws in this manner.
- PLEASE put Decatur Co IA Research Lookup and the publication name in your "SUBJECT" line. Some volunteers get a lot of email and without this, your request may be ignored/deleted!

This book has biographical sketches of several of the early
families who came to Decatur Co. in the 1850's. Most of the families are
Irish-Catholics.

MILITARY RECORDS
The Thirty-Fourth Regiment: Brief History"
A small 59 pg booklet "Entered according to Act of Congress, in
the year 1892, By J.S.Clark, Historian, In the office of the Librarian
of Congress, at Washington. Des Moines: Waters-Talbott Printing Co., 1892."
This is a record of "Their Deeds and Sufferings in Battle and Field"
and also lists a roster of field and staff officers of the 34th before
and after consolidation, and the following companies with the men's ranks:
Company A: Decatur County, Company B: Warren County, Company C:
Warren County, Company D: Warren County, Company E: Lucas County, Company
F: Wayne County, Company G: Lucas County, Company H: Warren County, Company
I: Decatur County, (No company J), Company K: Lucas County.
There is also a partial list of survivors with addresses.

1894 PROPERTY OWNERS BURRELL, FAYETTE AND BLOOMINGTON TWPS
These lists were compiled by Marvel Hansen from old plat maps of
the area. They list only the property owners names and how many acres of
