FLEMING

Email:plfleming@shelbynet.net
I am searching for Caughey S. (Staley?) FLEMING, 1854-1928. Oral family history says he was "orphan from Iowa". His obituary says "Mr. FLEMING was born in Decatur county, [but doesn't list the state] and when he was quite young came to Shelbyville [Indiana] for residence."
He would have been born sometime between 2 Jul 1854 and 30 Jun 1855, per his obituary.  I know that a wagon train left Shelbyville, IN, about 1850 with a final destination of Page Co, IA. That's about all the clues I have. What resources are in Decatur Co that might help me? What was happening in Decatur county in the 1850's?
