I am interested in the family of John McCauley and wife Hester or Jane-- they lived in the township of Eden in or around 1861-5. They had a daughter by the name of Marie McCauley who married Isaac Milligan in 1865-- I am trying to locate information on her mother and father, John and Hester or Jane-the Marie McCauley was my great grandmother. She died August 7 1874 and I think she may be buried in the Eden cemetery if her mother and father are there. Also the last name of Wood connects to this family some way as my grandfather's name was Charles Wood Milligan who was born in 1870-72. All of her children were born in Iowa she and Isaac Milligan were in Worth County Missouri just across the line from Decatur. I have checked with court house there and cemetery records and she is not there-- so my thoughts are maybe she is in Decatur County with her parents??? She died in childbirth in 1874 in Iowa. Article states in obit he was born in Iowa. Hope someone can help me clear up if this family is in Decatur county.

Visited Decatur Co. Aug. 2, 1997 finding "Jane McNealy SCHENCK" buried in the Decatur Cem. just inside the gate and to the north, d. 5/29/1892. My 4-times greatgrandmother, born 5/28/1805 in Warren, OH, raised a Civil War veteran Cyrenius SCHENCK, who we know much of. Problem is, we don't know anything of Jane SCHENCK's husband, Daniel SCHENCK. SCHENCK didn't appear in your 1875 plat book (online) but we know their granddaughter was married in Decatur City 11/2/1867 and is buried in Maryville, MO (Dicenda Ann "Annie" SCHENCK) to Samuel Roberts POLLY.
We're hot on the trail of James POLLY and his son, Rev. John POLLY who lived in Clarke Co. 'til Rev. John was gunshot sometime in 1875 and James died at age 83 in 1884. Neither is buried with the other 12 POLLY's in the Osceola Cem. Samuel R. POLLY, the chap who married "Annie" SCHENK, was the grandson of James POLLY.
