B. A. Beohm has since 1907 resided upon the farm of one hundred and forty-seven acres on section 17, Elk township, which he now occupies. Iowa stands among the first of the great agricultural states of the Union and
leads in the production of some crops and also enjoys a splendid reputation for the fine stock raised within its borders. The efforts of Mr. Beohm have contributed to this reputation, for with general farming he buys and sells stock. His entire life has been spent in Delaware county, his birth having occurred in Elk township, February 9, 1878, his parents being George and Catherine (Wentz) Beohm, the former a native of Germany and the latter of Pennsylvania. It was in the year 1874 that the father bade adieu to friends and native country and sailed for the new world. He made his way to Pennsylvania, where he married, and in that state resided until 1876, when he came to Iowa, settling upon the farm which is now the property of his son, B. A. Beohm, in Elk township. Thirty-eight years have since come and gone, in which period he has continuously maintained his residence in the township, where he now has many warm friends and the high regard of all who know him. His wife, however, passed away in 1909 and this is the only break which has occurred in the family circle, which includes eight children.

B. A. Beohm was reared on the old homestead, where he continued to the age of twenty years. He then worked on a farm by the month for six years, after which he started out to engage in general agricultural pursuits on his own account. It was in 1907 that he purchased his present property, comprising one hundred and forty-seven acres on section 17, Elk township. He recognized the possibilities of the soil and has since raised good crops. He also knows how to purchase stock to good advantage and sell them at a profit, and this branch of his business has brought to him a gratifying return.

In 1903 Mr. Beohm was united in marriage to Miss Verda E. Fletcher, a native of Canada and a daughter of William and Ella (Barr) Fletcher, who were likewise natives of Canada, where the mother passed away and the
father still makes his home. Mr. and Mrs. Beohm have become parents of two children: Fletcher A., born April 14, 1904; and Mabel E., born October 7, 1906.

Mr. Beohm is a member of the Catholic church and he belongs to the Modern Woodmen camp at Greeley, Iowa. His political indorsement is given the republican party but he does not seek nor desire office. He leads a busy and useful life, devoting his attention to his farm work and stock-raising interests and in his own career has proven that industry is a safe foundation on which to build success.
