CLARENCE J. BISHOP
Clarence J. Bishop, whose demise occurred on the 30th of
August, 1901,
when he was but twenty-seven years of age, had already won success and recognition
as a prosperous and enterprising agriculturist of Milo township.
His birth occurred in Smith county, Kansas, on the 15th of
March, 1874,
his parents being James and Orenda (Phelps) Bishop,
early settlers of that county. The father was a native of England, while the mother came of German
descent.
Clarence J.
Bishop began his education in the schools of this county at the age of six
years, having been brought here by his parents. After putting aside his
text-books he turned his attention to agricultural pursuits and
throughout the remainder of his life devoted his time and energies to farming
and stock-raising with excellent success.
On the
29th of November, 1898, Mr. Bishop was united in marriage to Miss Grace N. Daker, by whom he had two children, Bernice and James, who
are at home with their mother. He gave his political allegiance to the republican party and was a consistent member of the Methodist
church, in the faith of which he passed away on the 30th of
August, 1901.
His remains were interred at Manchester, and his loss was deeply mourned
throughout the community in which the greater part of his life had been spent.
