PETER ELLIS

Peter Ellis is the owner of the Spokane Ranch, a farm of one hundred and sixty acres situated on section 26, Honey Creek township. A native of this county, he was born April 12, 1876, being one of a family of four children, two of whom are yet living. The parents were William B. and Julia (Evans) Ellis, whose record appears elsewhere in this volume.

Peter Ellis acquired a public-school education in Elk township and for a number of years in early manhood was connected with the creamery business. He also followed railroading for a time but ultimately returned to the
occupation to which he had been reared and in March, 1912, purchased his present farm, which is among the attractive and valuable properties of Honey Creek township. It comprises a quarter section and the land is all under cultivation.

On the 20th of June, 1900, Mr. Ellis was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Sullivan, who was born in Asotin county, Washington, a daughter of Samuel P. and Eliza (Walton) Sullivan. They now have two sons, namely: William, who was born in Troy, Idaho, September 19, 1901; and Burton, whose birth occurred at Troy, Idaho, on the 13th of September, 1903. Mrs. Ellis' parents were pioneer settlers of this county, where they arrived in 1845, and here they lived for many years. In 1881 Mr. Sullivan went west to Asotin county, Washington. He now lives at Chester, Montana. His wife passed away in 1903 and was laid to rest at Moscow, Idaho.

Mr. Ellis is a republican in his political views and is much interested in the welfare of the community, but the honors and emoluments of office have had no attraction for him. Business has been his foremost thought and his interest has concentrated in his work because of his desire to make a comfortable living and a pleasant home for his family.
