FRANK KRONLAGE
Frank Kronlage is the owner of one hundred and sixty
acres of land situated in Bremen township,
and in cultivating it has found an occupation both congenial and profitable. He
was born in Oldenburg, Germany, September 6, 1845, and resided in the fatherland
until 1890, when he emigrated to the United States. Upon reaching the new world he
made his way to Dyersville, Iowa, and rented land in that locality for three years.
His resources were sufficient at the end of that time to enable him to buy a
farm and he purchased one hundred and sixty acres on section 35, Bremen township, Delaware county, three miles from Dyersville.
The farm is in a high state of cultivation and well improved and is one of the
attractive and valuable places in that township. Mr. Kronlage
is an energetic and practical farmer and his fields yield him annually abundant
harvests which insure him a competence.
Mr. Kronlage was married in 1874 in Germany to Miss Agnes Slamann,
and for twenty years they shared life's experiences, but on the
26th of February, 1894, Mrs. Kronlage was called to her
last rest. They were the parents of six children, four of whom are living:
Henry, born November 12, 1874, in Oldenburg, Germany, is at
home with his father and does the greater part of the actual work of the farm;
Elizabeth, also born in Germany, is the wife of Ferdinand Thole,
a farmer of Bremen township; Joseph, born in this state, is a resident of
Ionia, Iowa; and Anna, born in Dubuque county, Iowa, is at home.
Mr. Kronlage had reached man's estate when he emigrated to this country, but he has nevertheless
thoroughly acquainted himself with the customs of his adopted land and has
thoroughly identified himself with the welfare and progress of Delaware county, being always ready to aid
any movement that seeks to better the community. He performs thoroughly any
task that he undertakes and the success and general respect that are his are justly earned.
