ERNEST J. TYRRELL
Ernest J. Tyrrell is carrying on general farming
on a tract of land situated on section 5, Elk township,
and is not only a well known agriculturist and landowner but also a highly
respected citizen of the county. He was born neat Lockport, in Orleans county,
New York, on the llth
of February, 1851, a son of John arid Sarah (Mustle)
Tyrrell. In May, 1852, the family came to Delaware county, Iowa, and the father
preempted a quarter section in Elk township. He cleared the land of timber and
brush and placed it under cultivation, making a number of other improvements
thereon. Part of the property was sold but was later purchased again and is now
in possession of Mr. Tyrrell of this review. The father engaged in general
farming and raised graded stock in addition to his crops. His first wife died
in 1862 and he subsequently married Miss Emeline
Harris, who also preceded him in death many years. He died about 1884 and was
buried in a cemetery at Edgewood. He was a democrat.
