NORTH SIXTH STREET CATHOLIC CEMETERY PHOTOGRAPHS:
This Cemetery sits within the City of Burlington - on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. (CITY OF BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP). This is very old, very historic - it does have a lot of broken stones, unmarked stones and stones that have made their eventual slide down the sides of the bluff. You can see headstones lying down the bluff as you look along the sides.Becke Dawson To: Don Kelly Thursday, June 17, 2004 1:37 PM Subject: North 6th Street Cemetery PICTURES
Don, I was just in Burlington last Saturday for a family wedding and cut out quickly to go to the North 6th Street Cemetery to take some pictures for the site. Hope you can use them.... it was an absolutely beautiful day. I get anxious about this cemetery as it is slated for ????. Maybe with some pictures on the site people will get interested in it and try to help save it.
Let me know what you think. I finished the roll off of some of the headstones there and will include them on the Tombstone site. Hope you like them!
The first is of the gate entering the cemetery.
The second is the cemetery looking from the front.
The third is of the Civil War graves at the back of the cemetery and just on the edge of the bluff looking over the river.
The fourth is of the grouping of Civil War graves.
The fifth is an over-all view from the middle of the cemetery.
The sixth is more from the front looking towards the back.
