Carter Family Cemetery:

This cemetery is located within the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. The story behind this burial plot is tragic. A sign erected on the site by IAAP officials said that the Carter Family of five lived in a log cabin nearby. Neighbors found all members of the family dead inside their cabin. The family was presumed to be victims of cholera.The family was buried in a common and unmarked grave.

Some indications suggest that the bodies were moved to another cemetery, but we are unable to determine what cemetery.

If anyone knows the names of the parents and children, please provide same to be added to this record.
