Free Genealogy Training Classes
The Dubuque Family History Center
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 685 Fremont
Ave, Dubuque
Sunday, November 15, 2009
6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
There will be two topics for you to choose from
which should be of value to anyone involved in Family History/Genealogy
research including beginners through advanced researchers.
One topic is a presentation regarding Migration Routes in the
United States from east to west and reverse migration routes from
west to east. This class will take you back to the Oregon Trail
days and other documented migration eras and routes as immigrants
and pioneers fanned out across North America. The class also addresses
the reverse migration that has also occurred as people who had
settled in the west, ventured back eastward. This class will be
instructed by Barb Schenck and Janet Buss.
The other topic is Part I of a II Part series regarding How to
use Windows Movie Maker to Create Family Movies from pictures,
video clips, music and voice recordings. Family Movie Making can
be fun and gratifying as well as being a great way to document
personal memories and/or provide Family History gifts to loved
ones! Cathy Blok will help participants tell their story in movie
format. You are welcome to bring your lap top and work along as
she illustrates how you can develop your own cinematic history.
Part II will be offered at our Feb 2010 workshop.
Anyone interested in or curious about Family History/Genealogy
is invited, as well as friends or other guests you would like
to bring.
Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the activities
and, as usual, there is no charge.
For additional information, please contact the Dubuque Family
History Center Director, Steve Eastvedt at steveeastvedt@aol.com
