Conklin, E. B., farmer, Section 35 (Jefferson township); PO Oelwein; born in Saratoga Co., NY in 1820; located in Wyoming Co., NY, with his parents, in 1825; in Black Hawk Co., Iowa, Cedar Falls, in 1863; in this county in 1868. He married Miss Julia A. Rathburne on December 9, 1848; she was born in Schoharie Co., NY, 1823. He owns 200 acres of land, worth $40 per acre; he is engaged in stock raising, his farm being peculiarly adapted for that purpose, being well timbered and watered, having serveral large springs on the farm; he has it fenced into thirty acre lots; there is a brook of clear water meanders through this farm.
