valued at $4,800; born in England in 1818; came to Iowa in 1850. Married
Sarah Albright, who was born in Ohio in 1822; have six children: Mary E.,
Rebecca J., Barbara E. L., Rachel, Lousia; names of deceased: William H.,
James W., Henry, Almira, Melissa and Henry C. Enlisted in September, 1861;
served one year and died from wounds received at the battle of Shiloh.
Note: 1878 History of Fayette County, pg 433 lists a Henry George, Co. C,
Twelfth Inf., who enlisted 7 Oct. 1861, wounded at Shiloh 6 April 1862,
and died 2 May 1862 at Mound City Hospital, Ill.
