Alden in 1834; had five children -- Effie, born January 1, 1837; C. J., born 1838; William H., born 1840; Emma, born 1842; Lotty, born 1847; Mrs. Hughson died in 1858. He married his second wife, C. L. Cole, in 1865; she was born in Chenango Co., NY. They are members of the M. E. Church; she taught school for several years in this State. He has been Steward of the church twelve years, Justice of the Peace in Jackson Co., in this State, two terms, and Town Clerk in this county seven years; he is Township Collector now. Owns 120 acres of land, worth $30 per acre.
