History of St. Patrick's Parish, Westgate, Iowa

Thanks to Roger Maddigan for providing the following information. Roger wrote, "In going through things that belonged to my grandmother, Anna (McGruder) Maddigan (b. 1/10/1878 Beagh Townland, Monagan Co. Ireland; d. 5/26/1963 Oelwein; buried Mt. Calvary Cemetery) I found this newspaper article on the history of St. Patrick's Parish, Westgate, IA. The hand notations are my grandmother's. You will note that there is a reference to the 'old Maddigan school.' She was a school teacher who came from Lawler, Ia. to teach and met and married my grandfather John J. Maddigan. I continue to search for information regarding the school, etc. Pleased to provide this for the Fayette County site. s/ Roger Maddigan
