What do we do?     How can you help?
The Julien Dubuque Chapter DAR promotes patriotism by doing the following:
Enthusiastically commemorating historical events that helped shape America.
Regularly donating American flags to our local schools.
Supporting our troops with care packages, cards, and letters from home.
Volunteering our time and resources to help veterans who gave of themselves to support the freedom, we as Americans, enjoy today.
Our Chapter efforts to preserve American history are a never ending labor of love, including:
Maintaining a well stocked library of U.S., local, and genealogical history and information.
Dedicating a monument to Zebulon Pike, a Revolutionary War solider and explorer of the great Mississippi River.
The Julien Dubuque Chapter DAR is especially proud to promote our youth by:
Sponsoring American Essay contests in our grade and middle schools and moving into the high school level soon.
Providing the Junior American Citizenship awards to deserving students in our community.
Supporting scholarships both at a state and national level.
Our members remain tireless in their giving. We have logged many hours as volunteers at multiple community venues such as:
Veterans homes, hospitals and nursing homes
Local and genealogical libraries
Local parks and the Dubuque Arboretum.
DAR markers for Revolutionary War Soldiers.
Gravesites of our many heroes of all wars past.
We need more volunteers! If you are interested in becoming a member and becoming a part of these wonderful activities, please Contact Us or go to the Iowa State DAR website to find your local chapter.
