Dallmeyer, Claus,( p. 348)
Claus Dallmeyer was b. 8 August 1820 in Germany, and crossed the Atlantic in 1850, settling first in Jackson Co. Iowa. Came to Louisa Co. in 1856d. in Concord Twp., Louisa Co. on the 2 March 1892. He married 13 July 1867 to Dora Wilkins, also born in Germany 10 March 1845, daughter of Mathias and Catherine Willkins . She and her sister came to Louisa County in 1854 and her parents came four years later. Her siblings were: Gertrude m. ___Westerman; Emily d. age 24; three who d. in Germany
Claus and Dora Dallmeyer had six children, namely; Minnie, b. 24 August 1869, m. John Richley of Muscatine; Matilda b. 17 November 1873, m. Louis Lee of Letts; Charles who d. age 17; Louis M.; Ida b. 21 June 1884, m. Harry Littrel; and Dora b. 29 January 1887 m. Arthur Crumley.
Dallmeyer, Louis M. (p. 460)
Louis M. Dallmeyer, b. 23 August 1877, son of the above. He married 1) Theresa Wiese by whom he had two children: Harland E. b. 24 February 1899 and Lois M. b. 17 February 1901. Theresa (Wiese) Dallmeyer, d. February 1903. He m. 2) 12 June 1907 to Gertrude B. McDaniel, b. 8 December 1886 in Winona Minnesota, daughter of Sylvester and Emily J. (Wilson) McDaniel. Her children were: Francis R. b. 10 January 1908 d. as an infant; A. Evelyn b. 8 November 1909 d. 19 January 1910; M. Marie b. 8 November 1909, d. 20 January 1910, twin to A. Evelyn; and Lola G. b. 9 January 1911.
Darrow
Darrow, William H., M.D. (p.131)
William H. Darrow, M. D. was born in Summit County, Ohio, 17 August 1842, son of George and Harriet Walker Darrow. Came to Louisa Co. with his parents in 1845. He died 15 July 1894. He was one of fourteen children. He graduated from Medical School in 1859 and served in the Civil War. On 20 November 1871, he married Emily F. Weaver, daughter of Erastus and Mary Elizabeth (Marshall) Weaver. Her siblings were : Mary Elizabeth m. Reese Sellers; Laura and Annie, both d. as infants; Lucy m. E.S. Briggs; Clara m. Dr. C.B. Allen; H.O., an attorney; Henrietta m. August Salmon of Col. Jct.; and Alice, who died in infancy.
Dr. and Mrs. Darrow had one son, John D. b. 31 December 1877 who married Edie Klotz of Louisa County in 1900 and had two children: Helen F. b. 5 August 1909 and William H. b. 13 June 1911.
Davies
Davies, D.D. (p. 255)
D.D. Davies, b. 12 March 1842 in Wales, son of Thomas and Esther Davies, Was eight years old when his parents came to America and settled in Madison Co., New York. He served in the Civil War.and in 1868 he and his wife came to Louisa Co. He married 5 September 1865, in New York, to Jane Jones, also b. in Wales, the daughter of Thomas and Rachel Jones of Wales. Jane d. 12 April 1895 and is buried in the Cambrian Cemetery.
D.D. and Jane Davies had six children: Mary J., m. J.E. Morgan; David E.; Rachel M., m. J.E. Morgan of Mahaska Co.; Esther Ann and Margaret Ann; and Thomas L.
Davis
Davis, John J. (p. 222)
John J. Davis was born 10 August 1844 in Wales, the son of John H. and Ann Davis, also of Wales. The parents came to the U.S. in 1861 and had six children: Mary S., Rachel m. Evan Edwards: John J. of the review; H. J.; and two who d. young.
John J. married Dorothy Evans, also a native of Wales by whom he had five children: J.M.; H. H.; Walter C.Anna m. John G. Thomas; and Price.
Davis, James R. (p. 547)
James R. Davis was born 15 October 1838 in Wales, the son of David G. and Eleanor (Jones) Davis, both natives of Wales. The family came to the U. S. in 1841 and first settled in Butler County, Ohio. In this family there were six children; David; Mary m. Newton Beal of Burler Co.; Sarah m. Richard Howe of Hartwell, Ohio; Evan in VanWert Co.; James R. of this review; and Margaret.
James R. served in the Civil War and came to Columbus Junction, Iowa in July of 1890. He married Jane Wood and had five children, one who died in infancy, the others: Nellie m. W. Arthur; John; Edith and Sarah.
