Dodder

Dodder, Joseph H. (p. 398)

Joseph H. Dodder was born 4 February 1846 in Sussex Co., New Jersey, the son of Henry and Margaret (Ripley) Dodder, both born in 1807 in New Jersey.  They migrated to Louisa Co. in 1850. The mother d. 1864 and the father 14 November 1887. They had seven children: Jacob; Elizabeth m. George W. Benson of Iowa City; Margaret m. Ira H. Walker of Grandview; Sarah m. Merrick Murphy of New York; Joseph H.; and Albert.

Joseph H. married 10 August 1867 to Margaret Stineman, who was b. in Vermilion, Ohio on the 21 February 1846 and d. 1901. Her parents were Philip and Margaret Stineman, natives of Germany and migrated to Louisa Co. in 1853.

Mr. and Mrs. Dodder had five children: Edward H.; Ella m. J.E. McGrew; Elizabeth m. George W. McDill; Anna; Myrtle m. Charles Rilliett of Los Angeles, Calif. 


Dotson

Dotson, Joseph M.(p. 179)

Joseph M. Dotson was born 21 February 1837, son of B.S. and Mary (Davidson) Dotson. The father was born in Maryland and the mother in England. They first settled in Pennsylvania and in 1844 Mr. Dotson moved to Des Moines Co. and in 1849, moved to Louisa Co. There were fourteen children in the family with seven surviving until after 1912: Joseph M.; Sarah J. m. George Turner of Washington; Mark; Harriet, m. E. Stevens; Irene; Oliver P. of Eldon and Eva m. George Deal.

In October 1865, Mr. Dotson married Amanda C. Van Horn who died in1867 by whom he had one daughter Buena V. m. F. Abrams of Columbus Junction.  He remarried in 1868 to Josephine W. Welch, a native of Indiana.


Dotson, Samuel (p. 212)

Samuel Dotson was born 25 March 1858 in Louisa Co, son of David and Mary (Jackman) Dotson, both born in Pennsylvania. There were eight children in this family: John; Basil; William; O. Ella m. Lafe Packwood of Nebraska; Nancy Jane; Samuel; Hattie K. and George W.

Samuel married 3 February 1900 to Mrs. Nellie E. (Brady) Allen, who by her former marriage had two children, Roy and Samuel G. By Mr. Dotson she had a daughter Mary Evelena. 


Dotson, Thurman (p. 28)

Thurman Dotson was b. 22 September 1867 in Louisa Co., the son of David, Jr. and Lydia A. (Bier) Dotson. His father was b. 15 October 1841 in Pennsylvania and the mother in Louisa Co. There were five children in this family: Thurman A.; Sionilli, m. George Mellinger; Bazella m. William Westfall; Etta; and one d. in infancy.

Thurman m. 19 November 1889 to Minerva Jamison, who was born in Louisa Co. 29 January 1872, a daughter of J. W. and Rachel (Vaughn) Jamison. Thurman and Minerva had two children: Walter Elsworth b. 21 July 1890 and Lois Alta b. 6 May 1897. 


Dowson

Dowson, Robson (p. 510)

Robson Dowson was born in Louisa Co. the 29 August 1858, the son of Thomas and Mary (Robson) Dowson, both natives of England where they were married and emigrated to the U.S. in 1849. They had eight children: Jane m. Caesar Bonnichsen of Columbus Jct.; Mary m. Thomas Newell; Thomas; Robson; John: William; Charles H. and Florence E. d. 1896.

Robson m. 9 September 1885 to Della Westbrook, a native of New York, and the daughter of James and Clarissa (Scott) Westbrook. Her father d. 1895 and the mother in 1898. There were eight children in her family: A.J. ; J.B.; D.H.; Edgar; Emma m. --Wilson; Roana m. Diller; Della and Hector H.

Mr. and Dowson had three children: Harry Robson b. 21 June 1886; Scott Westbrook b. 11 March 1889 and Charles Hector b. 29 June 1892.
