Duncan, Charles L. (p. 311)
Charles Duncan was born 18 August 1867 in Louisa Co, the son of Samuel H. and Sarah F. (Edwards) Duncan. The father was five years old when he migrated from Tennessee to Iowa with his parents. They had nine children: J.K.; Charles L.; R.L.' Oscar E.; Guy and Garry, twins; Grace Adela; one who died in infancy and Clyde.
On the 15 March 1894, Charles L. Duncan married Minnie May Knaub, born in Clinton Co., Pennsylvania on the 6 October 1873, the daughter of Henry and Ella Amanda (Sprenkle) Knaub. The parents, also natives of Pa., came to Iowa in 1877, settling in Louisa Co.where the father passed away 6 December 1890. The children of Charles and Minnie were: Lyle E. b. 12 April 1895; Grace I. b. 7 March 1897; Gerald R. b. 25 December 1900 and Clyde S. b. 23 November 1903.
Duncan, Francis M. (p. 498)
Francis M. Duncan was born 8 July 1838 in Monroe Co., Tennessee,the son of John and Rachel G. (Duncan) Duncan, natives of Tennessee. The father was of Irish descent, his father coming from Ireland. The family moved to Iowa in 1846, arriving in Louisa Co. on the 10th of May. On 13 October 1865, he married Elizabeth Sands, daughter of Nathaniel and Sarah Sands. Their children: Joseph C. of Columbus Jct.; Melvin; William Nelson, of Union Twp; Ida L. m. Harry Edwards; Reuben Harrison; Francis M.; and Jesse.
Duncan, James A. (p. 230)
James A. Duncan was born on the 20 November 1879 in Seaton, Illinois, the son of A.L. and Lucinda C. (Gilmore) Duncan, both natives of Pennsylvania. In his parents family were six sons and one daughter: Leemoine G., Seaton, Illinois; Mary A., m. William Keating of Seaton; Fred T., of Gainesville, Tx; and Frank L. and Harland H. of Seaton. James A. Duncan came to Oakville, Iowa in 1895 to take care of the grain and lumber business which his father had purchased.
On 29 November 1899, he married Maude Waterhouse, daughter of Moses T. and Alice M. (Bell) Waterhouse, who were parents of eleven children: William T.; James O.; John M.; Daisy B., m. G. W. Campbell of Oakville; Maude m. James A. Duncan; Jacob; Ralph Roy; Nellie M. m. G. H. Williams; Violet E. m. Oscar Swanson; Raymond P. and Elva M. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan had five children but the youngest died in infancy. Surviving were Myrtle M.; Della F.; Arthur L.; and James H.

James Carson Duncan was born in Louisa County on the 8 April 1868, son of John Calvin and Sarah Jane (Tedford) Duncan. The father was born in Monroe Co. Tennessee, the son of John and Rachel (Duncan) Duncan)
John Calvin Duncan was twice married. On the 20 April 1867, he m. 1)Sarah Jane Tedford who died at the age of 32. They had four children: James Carson of this review; Clara J. m. James Hamil of Missouri; Anna m. Harry Stapp of Longmont, Colorado; and John F. After the death of his wife, he m. 2) 20 April 1881 to Martha Sands daughter of Nathaniel and Sarah (McCall) Sands, who was one of nine children: William McCall; Henry; John; Amanda; Eliza; Elizabeth m. F.M. Duncan; Zachariah; Francis; and Marthas By the second marriage John Calvin Duncan had two children: Nathaniel of Columbus City and Mabel, m. Robert Smiley.
James Carson Duncan married 11 February 1893 to Luella Johnston, a native of Louisa Co., daughter of W.A. and E.R. (Maxwell) Johnston. Her parents were born in Alabama and Ohio respectively and came to Louisa Co. at an early date. IMr. and Mrs. Duncan had seven children: Madge E.; Ethel J.; Calvin A.; Marjorie; Tedford; Robert N. and Harold.

Joseph K. Duncan was born 31 December 1864, the son of Samuel .H. and Elizabeth (Edwards) Duncan, natives of Tennessee. His father came to Louisa Co. in 1842 when he was 8 years old
Duncan, Robert F. (p. 551)
Robert F. Duncan was born in Louisa Co. 24 August 1844, the son of J. Kennedy and Margaret (Johnson) Duncan, natives of Tennessee. His siblings were: Catharine: Samuel H.; Sarah J.; Isabella J. m. J. W. Oates of Col. Jct.; J.J. also of C.J.; and twins who died in infancy.
Robert F. Duncan married 9 March 1870 to Melissa Bobo, daughter of Jacob and Rosanna (Wren) Bobo, the latter a native of Pennsylvania while the former was born and reared in Ohio. In the Bobo family were twelve children: Melissa (above); Sarah m. Henry Elliott; Filena m. James O'Connor; Michael; Minda; Allan; Harrison; Anis m. Samuel Edmonson of Muscatine; and four d. in infancy. To Mr. and Mrs. Duncan were born three children: Ollie m. Clarence Sherer; Viola m. Richard Wilcox; and Ella m. Thomas Hendrickson.

R.H. Duncan was born in Union Twp., Louisa Co., Iowa on 1 December 1847, son of Francis M. and Elizabeth (Sands) Duncan (See father's account above) . R.H. Duncan married Frances Crim, who was born in Louisa Co, and was the daughter of George W. and Frances (Butcher) Crim. Her mother d. in December 1879 and her father on 8 February 1901. She had one sister Catherine; Mr. and Mrs. Duncan had four children: Merle L. b. 17 November 1901; Roy V. b. 19 April 1903; Armilla V. b. 2 October 1904 and Reuben C. born 23 December 1906.

Samuel H. Duncan was born in Tennessee on the 28 October 1838, son of J.K. and Margaret (Johnson) Duncan and brother to Robert F.( above). He married 5 November 1864 to Elizabeth Edwards and had nine children: J.K.; Charles; R.L.; Oscar E.; Guy and Garry, twins; Grace Adella d. in infancy and Clyde d. age seventeen.

William Nelson Duncan was born in Union Twp., Louisa Co. on the 26 March 1870, the son of Francis. M. and Elizabeth (Sands) Duncan. (See father's account above). He married Jennie Orr, daughter of W.W. and Jane (McCooney; Orr, the father a native of Tennessee and the mother of Iowa. In the Orr family were nine children: Rufus; James L.; Jennie; Ella; Margaret m. W.W. Krone; Frank of Montana; John L.; Arhtur and Earl. Having no children of their own William Nelson and Jennie (Orr) Duncan raised Milo Fulton.

Fred Earl Dunham was born 19 May 1883 in Louisa Co., the son of Sylvanus and Martha (Jamison) Dunham. On 12 April 1905, Mr. Dunham married Leila Ethel Lowe, daughter of George B. and Alice (Wagner) Lowe, native of Iowa in whose family were three children: Bert, Ralph and Leila.

Dunham, Sylvanus (p. 234)
Sylvanus Dunham was born in Fayette Co., Indiana on 29 August 1822, the son of Nathaniel and Mary (Williams) Dunham, natives of New York state. He came to Louisa Co. with his widowed mother in 1836. On the 26 April 1865, Mr. Dunham married Martha Jamison, daughter of William D. and Isabella (Seeds) Jamison. She was one of three children, the others being: Susan m. S.A. Thompson of Morning Sun, and Ira.
Mr. and Mrs. Dunham had nine children: Ira Edwin, Missouri; William Wright, Fredonia, KS; Harry Ansel, Monte Vista, Colorado; Mary Maud; Bertha Blanche; Sidney Sylvanus; Nellie Ursula m. F. G. Colburn of Oskaloosa; Elmer Roy; and Fred Earl. Mr. Dunham died 6 September 1892 at the age of 72.

Dvorak, James (p. 345)
James Dvorak was born in Bohemia on the 8 September 1854, the son of Vexclav and Barbara (Adam) Dvorak, who were married in Bohemia and resided there until 1872 when they emigrated to the United States. They were in Baltimore six months and Chicago two years before comijng on to Louisa Co. James Dvorak died 14 March 1903. He was married 9 January 1882 to Mary Hosek, also born in Bohemia, who came to America when she was four years old. Her siblings were: Joseph d. 1905; Annie m. Joseph Lear of Washington Co.; and Frances m. Frank Skubal of Washington Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Dvorak had eleven children: Joseph William b. 7 May 1882; Mary Frances b. 2 February 1884 m. Elmer Pearson of Clay Center, KS; Anna B. b. 7 January 1886 m. Theodore Rath of Washington Co.; James b. 14 December 1887; Rose b. 4 October 1889, m. George Longquist; Frank b. 9 June 1892; Amelia E. b. 1 March 1894; Clara Matilda b. 7 March 1896; Helen Agnes b. 18 August 1898; Alby b. 10 February 1901; and Nora b. 11 September 1903

Dyche, Charles J. (p. 383)
Charles J. Dyche was born 11 January 1880 in Washington Co., Iowa, the son of John and Alice (Boyd) Dyche. They were both natives of Ohio and came to Iowa in early childhood and married in Washington Co. and later moved to Louisa Co.
He married 20 May 1903 to May McCormick of Columbus City, the daughter of J.T. and Sabina McCormick, native of Ohio, who came to Louisa County at an early date. They had two children: Nella Ester b. 29 November 1903 and Irma Alice b. 13 August 1905.
