Edmondson

Edmondson, Elmore E. (p. 157)

Elmore E. Edmondson was born in Louisa Co. on the 14 December 1886, the son of Micajah and Sarah (McCleary) Edmondson, both natives of Louisa Co. He became a lawyer, passing the bar in 1910.  If he married it was after 1912 when the History of Louisa Co. was published. 


Edmondson, M. R.

M.R. Edmondson was born in Concord Twp., Louisa Co. , 5 June 1865, the son of R.H. and Jane (Reeder) Edmondson, the former a native of Blount Co., Tennessee and the latter of Louisa Co.  They were married in Louisa Co. The mother died 8 August 1897. The father (R.H.) was born 8 October 1830, the son of David and Nancy (Scott) Edmondson, natives of Virginia who migrated to Tennessee during the early development of that state.  They moved to Indiana in 1836 and came to Louisa Co. in 1855. The ancestry of the family can be traced back to England, for David Edmondson was a son of David and Jennette (Wilson) Edmondson, both natives of England.  The maternal grandfather for M.R. was Micajah Reeder, who organized the first Masonic and Odd Fellows Lodges in Louisa Co. The siblings of M.R. were: W.L., Decatur Co., IA; Nancy m. C. McDaniel; G.W.; and Emma m. T.J. Carey.

M. R. Edmondson married 22 March 1884 in Linn Co., Kansas to Ida McCleary, who ws born in Louisa Co. on the 19 January 1862, the daughter of George W. and Nancy (Simpkins) McCleary, also natives of Louisa Co.  The father was a son of Abraham and Sarah (Trimbul) McCleary, both natives of Ohio, where they were raised and married. Ida McCleary was one of thirteen children.  The others: S.J.; Helen m. a Classin; Victoria m. a Carpenter; John; Bertha m. a Martin; Annie m. a Holtz; Lula m. a Davis; Jeff D.; Pearl m. a Skye; Grover; George and Ruth.

The subject and his wife had five children: Elmore b. 14 December 1885; Maud b. 2 September 1887 m. Alva Shaw; George b. 24 September 1890; William b. 11 April 1893; and Harold b. 25 April 1896. 


Edmondson, R.F.

R.F. Edmondson was born in Blount Co., Tennessee, ont he 9 June 1855, the son of William and Mary (Walker) Edmondson, both natives of Ohio. They came to Louisa Co. in 1856. The mother d. 22 May 1874 and the father d. in 1887. They had ten children, but only four living in 1912: Eliza J., m. S.D. Johnston; Margaret J. m. G. W. Duncan; Carolina, and R.F.

R.F. Edmondson m. 1) 1880 to Etta Duncan b. 1857, daughter of F.A. Duncan. She died 8 November 1898, survived by four children: Mary , m. Ed Shellabarger; Nellie m. S.L. Olson of N.D.; William F; and Dale D. He m. 2)26 February 1902 to Mrs. Alice (Pearson)Lupton, daughter of James S. and Sarah Pearson, natives of England. The parents came to America in 1845, locating first in Virginia. The father d. November 1881 and the mother in January 1902. 


Edwards

Edwards, Harry L. (p. 366)

Harry L. Edwards was born in Union Twp. on the 11 August 1870, the son of John H. and Ella P. (Carson) Edwards, the father a native of Tennessee and the mother of Louisa Co. Mr. Edwards d. 1888 but the mother was still living in 1912.

Harry L. Edwards m. 18 February 1892 to Ida L. Duncan, a native of Louisa Co. and the daughter of F.M. and Elizabeth P. (Sands) Duncan, of Louisa Co. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards had four children: Hazel M. b. 6 March 1895; Glen D. b. 15 April 1900; Fern D. b. 1 August 1902; and Evelyn Irene. b. 30 July 1906. 


Edwards. J.H.

J.H. Edwards was born in Blount Co., Tennessee on 19 October 1888, the son of Madison and Esther (Johnston) Edwards, both natives of Blount Co.. They came to Louisa Co. in the 1840's.

On 4 September 1866, J.H. Edwards married Ella T. Carson, a native of Louisa Co, the daughter of Mark and Mary (Colton) Carson, the former born in Tennessee and the latter in Pennsylvania. Ella T. was their only child. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards had ten children: Margaret H.; Harry L.; Mary M., Salt Lake City, Utah; Bessie m. Charles Holada; Roy of S.D.; Grace; m. Harry L. Foster of Johnson Co., Ia.; Maud m. M. McGuire; Rose; Nellie; and Mark. 


Edwards, Lewis (p. 428)

Lewis Edwards was born in Wales in April 1848, the son of Rowland and Catharine Edwards, also natives of Wales.  He married Hannah Davis, also a native of Wales.  She died 15 February1901 and is buried in Cambrian Cemetery. They had four children: James L.; Evan L.; Cahterine Ann m. E.S. May; and John L. 


Edwards, William E. (p. 464)

William E. Edwards was born in Louisa Co. 25 May1870, son of Charles W. and Delia (Merriam) Edwards.  The father was born in Oneida Co.,N.Y. in 1822 and the mother in Oswego Co., N. Y. They arrived in Louisa Co. in 1864. On the 22 January 1891, he married Lola G. Hook, daughter of George W. and Emily B. (Trask) Hook, whose parents were natives of Louisa Co.  Mr. and Mrs. Edwards had two children: Georgie b. 23 May 1892, d. same yr. and Lucille b. 17 October 1900. Mrs. Edwards was one of nine children, the others: Elisha; Sophia; Jessie m. Abraham Parsons; Grant, George; Emma m. Dr. F.R. Wright of Wapello; and Merritt B., a Dr. at Denver, Colorado. 


England

England, Samuel A. (p.413)

Samuel A. England was b. 17 September 1875 in Louisa Co.  He was the son of Joseph and Malinda (Skinner) England, the former a native of Lansing, Michigan and the latter of Ohio.  The father was brought to Louisa Co. by his parents when he was two years old. The father died 29 March 1893.  Samuel A.'s siblings were: Nancy J. m. J. Ross of Henry Co., Ia; Mary E. m. Robert Clark; and Ida May m. Calvin Black.

On the 28 December 1898, Mr. England married Ella Paisley, who was born in Morning Sun, Iowa on the 21 April 1873, the daughter of Robert and Eliza (Swan) Paisley, both natives of Ohio.  They came to Louisa Co. at an early day and Mr. Paisley d. 7 April 1902. 


Epperly

Epperly, Adam (p. 368)

Adam Epperly was b. in Wayne Co., Indiana, 14 April 1838, the son of William and Nancy (Gower) Epperly, the mother a native of Maryland and the father of Virginia.  They were married in Wayne Co. and came to Louisa Co. in 1865. Adam had a sister Mary m. Jackson Campbell. 


Etter

Etter, Frank (p.374)

Frank Etter was born 14 August 1868 in Washington Co. Ia, the son of Jacob and Julia (Davis) Etter. The father was b. in Pennsylvania 24 March 1835, the mother on 10 September 1838, and they were married in Pennsylvania 6 October 1859.  They moved to Iowa from Pennslvania in 1862. Mrs. Etter d. 20 may 1870.  They had three children: George d. in infancy; Emma d. 11 December 1887 after the birth of her fourth child; and Frank, our subject.

Frank Etter m. 10 April 1890 to Inza B. Fraze, b. 7 December 1871, the daughter of Henry A. and Matilda (Black) Fraze, both natives of Stark Co., Ohio.  The former was b. 29 September 1840 and the latter 7 September 1846.  They married in Stark Co. 14 February 1865 and moved to Muscatine Co. in 1869. The Fraze's had eight children: Nettie m. John Lunt, of Muscatine Co.; Exa m. Charles Seydel, of Seattle, Wash.; our subject Inza; Albertus V., Calif.; Orrilla m. Perry Comer, of Muscatine Co.; Virgil; Ernest, d. in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs Etter had six children: Charles b. 10 February 1891, died on the 21st of Feb.; Samuel F. b. 12 February 1893; Mary E. b. 1 October 1899; John Henry b. 20 August 1904; Clarence L. b. 9 February 1906 and Edna M. b. 19 October 1907.
